The world of coffee is extensive and varied and will always be in high demand. It is a product that is enjoyed all over the world and the quality of the coffee from the bean to the machine must be of the top quality to satisfy the many coffee enthusiasts. The Principality of Monaco is actually home to a company in the field, Sacome Conti. HelloMonaco continues its series on the brands and ideas that owe their beginnings to the Principality, this time delving into the universe of the coffee machine company, Sacome Conti.
Company history
The company was founded in Paris in 1954 by Mr. Siksik, first under the trade name of Sacome and then, once the rights to the ‘Conti’ brand had been purchased, Sacome Conti. The company produces specialised coffee machines, and thanks to their 20 million euro turnover they are among the five most significant European manufacturers of espresso machines, with more than 65% of turnover generated by exports to more than 40 countries. It was in 1956 that the Principality came into play, when the companies operations were moved here on the harbour of Monaco. With success and expansion came the need for new industrial premises, so in 2003 Sacome Conti moved to a State built building with a surface area of almost 3000m3, “La Ruche”.
This Monegasque based company, led by President Bruno Pariset, has now been designing and creating espresso machines for worldwide catering businesses for more than 60 years. Some say Sacome Conti is “a benchmark in the world of design, manufacturing and marketing of professional espresso machines”. The quality of their production does not go unnoticed; in 2016 Conti was awarded the ‘Made in Monaco Prize’ by the Eco Club of Monaco.
Producing machines with cutting edge technology is a complex process; most people are not aware of this, but many steps go into the production of such machines. With a staff of 130, Sacome carries out all of its tasks, at a higher added value, in Monaco. Their Monaco- based factory is one of their strongest points and ensures their longevity, allowing them to develop products in the area and survey their creation.
In such a competitive field, with about 40 other competitors, Sacome Conti differentiates itself by using this type of cutting edge technology and also having variety within their products. The business has always been innovative, ever since it was founded, creating some of the most unique models, placing them in the top 8 coffee machine producers. They created the first entirely automatic machine, machines with hydraulic systems, hydraulic pumps, two boilers, and the list goes on. Great care is taken to ensure that the espresso machines consistently have an avant-garde and ergonomic design; over 10% of their turnover is invested into research and development.
Sacome Conti management has continuously adapted to ensure the continuation of its success, such as implementing a powerful quality-price ratio, focusing on international development, more than 70% of its machines are exported to various continents, in particular Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Northern Africa and increasingly Northern Europe. The company also improves its reliability and success by focusing on the after sales and customer service, developing their product range and workforce to respond to the consumers needs and optimize their commitment to quality.
