Water Safety with Princess Charlene

Princess Charlene invited a group of 50 middle schoolers to take part in the Water Safety Day on Larvotto Beach. When your sea rescue class is taught by Alain Bernard, the class immediately becomes a lot more interesting. The Olympic champion was one of the sportsmen present for the Water Safety Day for the Princess Charlene Foundation, where children learnt the steps they should take to save somebody’s life at sea when someone is struggling in the water. From learning how to use a rescue tube to bring the victim to shore, to learning the proper way to use a nipper-board (a rescue plank).

Princess Charlene

“It is an important day for my foundation. We’ve been developing this sea rescue program for three years now. Unfortunately, every year people drown…  And this is not just limited to coastal areas, but even lakes, rivers and swimming pools, especially ones for younger kids. This is why we decided to organize this program and right before the summer season”- Princess Charlene shared.

Champions who worked with kids inspired them: “Alain is a swimming legend and it is an honour that we are able to include him as a member of the program”.

Also she added: “Currently, we are working on a project with Burkina Faso. I hope that we’ll be able to spread to more regions, because it is a necessary skill”.
