Drunk in Charge of a Young Baby
Drunk in charge of, not just a vehicle, but a young baby. This really was what called for an exemplary verdict when the young woman was hauled before the court. Not yet in her thirties, resident in Monaco with an American background, at only six in the evening she was drunk at the wheel of her luxury SUV.
Drunk enough to crash into two vehicles and have the police rush to the scene. First a check-up in the hospital for the baby and herself. Luckily there were no victims, nor was the American lady hurt – except in the “wallet” for the 30.000 euro bill for the repairs to all the damaged cars’ bodywork.
Under questioning by the magistrate she claimed the accident happened because the baby in the cradle in the back seat had cried for attention. A good excuse had she not been under the influence of three times the legal limit of alcohol. A couple of small glasses of wine was not a story the magistrate was buying. And he reprimanded her with the caution – always stop the car before turning around to tend for your baby.
Nine months suspension of the lady’s driving license was merited but an exemplary suspended sentence of 15 days in prison was added, plus a small fine. Don’t drive drunk in Monaco and endanger lives!
Fierce Dog Commits Gruesome Violent Act
A gruesome scene fit for a horror movie. Do not read further if the sad fate of an animal would cause you distress. A Pitbull terrier, that should have been muzzled, was in the charge of an eleven-year-old girl. The Pitbull terrier savaged to death a timid little Yorkshire terrier coming out of an elevator of a luxury apartment building in Monaco. The 70-year-old owner of the savaged little doggy was too upset to come to court and have to relive the episode. Understandable! Imagine walking your dog and watching it be shred to pieces in a vicious attack. Pitbull terriers must be muzzled; it is the law. The owner of the Pitbull showed little remorse in front of the Magistrate. Three fines, each of 200 euros, for contraventions, the more serious of which was not to muzzle the dog. Add an additional 200 euro fine and a suspended prison sentence of 8 days.
Pornographic Acts and Violence in Public
Drugs, sex, violence and a sports celebrity; certainly a powerful cocktail that was toxic to the point of leading to prison. Extreme behaviour by any standard, even allowing for an excessive bout of drinking in a bar in Monaco. A Scandinavian sports celebrity took it into his head to have his friend film a pornographic scene outside a bar, while he ravished his willing girlfriend hardly out of her teens. Not satisfied with vulgarity alone he then started to beat her. A lady nearby tried to intervene only to be hit by the man and summarily pushed into some bushes with a kick to the posterior. A night in a Monaco jail for this young sportsman was light punishment and he was lucky to be released. It might have ended there had not the lady pulled herself out of the bushes, been treated in hospital and then filed a complaint with the police. Meanwhile the next night our young sexual predator was doing the bar rounds, drunk and rowdy and ready to sparr. Better the police than another young female victim. It turns out that the man had a penchant for fighting, including with police and barmen. But the police restrained him and at the police station a search yielded a quantity of cocaine, and a cell phone full of personal scenes of pornographic violence.
Not surprisingly a diet of prison was prescribed, and the young sportsman was lucky to get away with one month’s incarceration instead of six months requested by the prosecution. His girlfriend for willing complicity to perform a pornographic act on the streets of Monaco received a 5-day suspended sentence.
