Monte Carlo Padel Master: to be or not to be

After only two editions in Monaco, the Monte Carlo Padel Master is already disappearing from the calendar of major sporting events in the Principality, since it will not be organised in 2017. However, this decision is not final, according to Monte Carlo International Sports, the organizer of the event. This prestigious tournament had been a remarkable showcase for the discipline and notably Cartier had designed an exclusive trophy for this event. Since its inception, Monte-Carlo International Sports’ main objective has been to promote the development of paddle tennis, or padel, in the world and to help players play an active role in its professionalization. This includes the organisation of the Fabrice Pastor Cup, a circuit that currently consists of three tournaments in South America and which this year celebrates its third edition with the objective of developing in other countries, as well as in Europe.

Other Projects

This year the circuit, with the support of the World Padel Tour, will again award a wild card to the winners of each tournament and this will enable them to participate in a stage of this season’s professional circuit.

This year the Monegasque company also formed a very high-level team with the contributions of the top three players in the world ranking Fernando Belasteguin, Pablo Lima and Paquito Navarro and partnered with a Spanish club to try to form a women’s team and a men’s team, which would possibly be able to dominate in the Spanish championship. Finally, the company continues to work on various projects related to padel, such as the creation of sports facilities, schools and events. Let us hope, then, that this disappearance is only temporary.

Fans of padel, take heart: though it appears that the Monte Carlo Padel Master is disappearing for now, there may still be hope for the future of this dynamic sport.
