Two young table tennis players from Monaco made a strong impression at a national tournament in Istres last weekend, leaving their mark on the competition and setting the stage for more success in November. Maxime Jaffrenou and Noah Faugeras, representing the Monegasque Table Tennis Club, travelled to Istres alongside club president and coach for the day, Ulrika Quist.

Quist, a seasoned player who has been involved in table tennis since she was just six years old, brought her experience and passion for the sport to coach and guide the young athletes. Maxime Jaffrenou, competing in the junior category, took on more advanced opponents from the cadet division, showing great improvement after a slow start. His persistence paid off, as he powered through to the final, earning a runner-up finish—an impressive achievement for the club’s newest recruit. His performance bodes well for the second round of the competition, which is scheduled for November 23rd.

Meanwhile, Noah Faugeras, who was making his debut at the national level, had a different but equally noteworthy experience. Determined to make a strong first impression and stay at this competitive level, he finished at the top of his group, securing his spot for the next phase. With newfound confidence, he went on to defeat two higher-ranked players, cementing his place as a rising talent.

Both players now look ahead to November, where they will once again take to the table to represent Monaco in their respective categories.
