Monaco’s Ben Seghir Set to Shine for Morocco in World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

Eliesse Ben Seghir the attacking midfielder, trained in Monaco’s famed academy, has been called up once again by his national team coach for the upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Zambia and Congo on June 7 and 11.

Returning to represent Morocco

Eliesse Ben Seghir will don the Moroccan colours once more. First included in the Atlas Lions squad during the March gathering, the Monaco No. 7 has been selected again by coach Walid Regragui. He’s set to participate in two critical World Cup 2026 qualifier matches against Zambia and Congo on June 7 and 11.

MVP in Monaco’s Season Finale

Ben Seghir’s stellar performances continue to earn him accolades. He scored in a match against Strasbourg last March, earning the MVP title from AS Monaco supporters. He repeated this feat during the final Ligue 1 game against Nantes, scoring a goal and providing an assist. With 42% of the votes, he clinched the MVP title again, just ahead of Wissam Ben Yedder (37%), contributing to Monaco’s dominant 4-0 victory to close the season.

Morocco Leading the Qualifier Group

Eliesse is set to experience his first international competition qualifiers after playing two friendlies with the Atlas Lions. Morocco aims to maintain its lead in their World Cup 2026 qualifying group, bolstered by a 2-0 win against Tanzania last November.

To achieve this, the young midfielder will need to impress in the matches against Zambia on June 7 at Stade Adrar in Agadir, and against Congo on June 11 at Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa. Best of luck, Eliesse!
