The 8th edition of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo is set to hit the roads from October 23-26, 2024, promising a thrilling spectacle for both competitors and electric vehicle enthusiasts alike… and there’s a little royal magic involved! As one of the final rounds of the Bridgestone FIA ecoRally Cup, this event brings together advanced electric technology, prestigious competition, and a challenging route that weaves through some of the most picturesque landscapes in Europe.

A Secretive Journey Across Majestic Terrain

The rally will cover 14 secret Regularity Stages, spanning over 250 kilometers of timed action. The route remains tightly under wraps, with competitors only receiving details an hour before setting off on each leg. What we do know is that the stages will crisscross the stunning regions of the Alpes de Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, and the Var, with a brief but exciting detour into the Italian Riviera. A handful of historic Monte Carlo Rally stages are thrown into the mix, making for an exciting blend of tradition and cutting-edge innovation.

This year’s rally takes things up a notch in difficulty. Organizers from the Automobile Club de Monaco have added new sections to the course, pushing competitors to their limits. The terrain will be more demanding than ever, forcing drivers and teams to navigate tricky conditions and rely on the increasingly impressive battery-life of their vehicles.

Star Power and International Talent

An impressive 63 teams representing 17 nations will compete, showcasing a diverse array of 40 electric vehicle models from 18 manufacturers. Among the headlining competitors are well-known figures in the world of electric rally racing, including Michal Zdársky and Jakub Nabelek, the reigning FIA ecoRally Cup Champions, piloting a Hyundai Kona. They’ll be battling it out against names like Guido Guerrini and Artur Prusak, seasoned drivers in their KIA E-NIRO, and Eneko Conde and Lukas Sergnese, last year’s winners in their KIA EV6 GT.

But it’s not all about seasoned professionals. The rally will also feature some well-known faces from outside the motorsport world. Camille Gottlieb, daughter of Princess Stéphanie, will compete in a FIAT 500 alongside Margaux Grundstein for the BeSafe association. Also taking part are Jacques Pastor, a two-time event winner, and former Formula 1 driver Stefano Modena, adding some extra star power to the competition.

Starting in Style, Ending in Glory

As tradition dictates, the rally will kick off in the glamorous Casino Square in Monte-Carlo, providing a stunning backdrop for the start of this eco-friendly adventure. Over the next three days, teams will face off in intense battles of strategy and endurance, as the rally unfolds across rugged alpine roads and coastal vistas. The final leg will conclude back in Monaco, where a grand closing ceremony will celebrate the winners and highlight the growing importance of electric mobility in motorsport.

Charging Up for Success

Monaco is well-prepared to support the influx of electric vehicles. With over 575 charging stations available in the city’s public car parks, competitors can recharge their vehicles with ease. The Monaco On infrastructure ensures that logistics won’t get in the way of high-level competition, allowing participants to focus on performance rather than battery anxiety.

A Vision for the Future

More than just a race, the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo represents the future of sustainable automotive competition. Since 1995, the Automobile Club de Monaco has been a pioneer in promoting eco-friendly mobility, and this event continues to push the envelope. Combining a respect for tradition with the latest in electric technology, the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo stands as a testament to the evolving world of motorsport—and this year’s edition promises to be one of its most memorable chapters yet.
