AS Monaco make it three straight in the league at Reims!

Thanks to second-half goals from Aleksandr Golovin, Takumi Minamino and Wissam Ben Yedder, the Rouge et Blanc dominated in Reims (3-0) to win their third straight in a row in Ligue 1.

It was a big win (3-0) for AS Monaco away to Reims, as part of the 8th matchday in Ligue 1. At the start of this match, Philippe Clement had opted for a return to a 4-4-2 with an attacking partnership of Wissam Ben Yedder and Breel Embolo. After a very good appearacne off the bench against Ferencváros, Maghnes Akliouche also started for the first time in Ligue 1.

Plenty of away support

Under the eyes of more than 700 Monegasque supporters at the Stade Delaune, it was Reims who created the first chance for themselves through Arbër Zeneli but his shot was captured by Alexander Nübel (4′). With numerical superiority, the men of Philippe Clement pushed for a goal and on the following free kick, Aleksandr Golovin crossed well in front of the goal but nobody could turn the ball into the back of the net (25′).

Continuing to dominate, the Rouge et Blanc could also count on the vigilance of Alexander Nübel, who stopped a shot from 30 meters from Marshall Munetsi (34′). Like the previous matches played by AS Monaco, it was once again goalless at half-time.

A brilliant ball by Disasi finds Golovin for the opener

On at the break, Mohamed Camara put himself in the spotlight a few minutes later with a curling effort punched clear by Yehvann Diouf (53′). Barely dangerous except at set pieces, Stade de Reims thought Folarin Balogun had equalised at a corner but he was rightly signaled offside (61′).

Taki and Wissam open their accounts

Faced with a Reims side who were on the attack at the end of the match, the Rouge et Blanc thus benefited from space at the back. This is how, on a long ball by Breel Embolo, Takumi Minamino won a one-on-one to score his first goal for AS Monaco (87′). First a scorer, the Japanese then turned provider for Wissam Ben Yedder, who opened his left foot and curled his shot perfectly into the goal.

AS Monaco therefore won 3-0, a third consecutive win in the league without conceding a goal after beating Nice and Lyon.
