Tour de France: Princely Couple attend Historic Final race from Monaco

Prince Albert II leads the “Ride for Peace” Parade

Prince Albert II of Monaco kicked off the “Ride for Peace” parade on 21 July, which brought together 40 personalities and athletes who cycled the last 34 km stage of the Tour de France, between Monaco and Nice.

During a time of international conflicts, this joint initiative from Peace and Sport and Le Tour de France represents a unique opportunity to remember the importance of sport as a tool for inclusion, living together and peace.

Princely Couple attends the 75th Monaco Red Cross Gala

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, accompanied by Camille Gottlieb, attended the 75th Monaco Red Cross Gala at the Salle des Etoiles on Friday 19 July. The charity evening was hosted by TV personality Tatiana Silva and athlete Thaïg Khris. Members and donors of the Red Cross enjoyed an exceptional dinner which ended with a concert by Jamiroquai. Since 1948, the Monaco Red Cross has carried out daily humanitarian activities.

Prince Albert II makes Historic Trip to Duras

Prince Albert II travelled to Duras on Monday 15 July as part of his frequent trips to territories historically linked to his family. On 15 July 1777, Louise Félicité d’Aumont, granddaughter of Emmanuel Félicité de Durfort, Duke of Duras, married Honoré IV, future Prince of Monaco.

Prince Albert II was welcomed to the village of Lot-et-Garonne by Mayor Bernadette Dreux and Prefect Daniel Barnier. The Prince then unveiled a “Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco” plaque. After a visit to the weekly market in the presence of a large crowd, the Prince received the city medal at the Château de Duras from the Mayor, before having lunch in the Salle des Maréchaux. Prince Albert II then attended a falconry show in the Château garden to complete his trip to Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Prince Albert II inaugurates Tour de France Photo Exhibition

The Prince inaugurated an exhibition of nineteen photographs on the gates of the Jardins Saint-Martin on 13 July. The pictures retrace the passages of the renowned cycling competition through the Principality. The photos date from between 1952 and 2009. The exhibition runs until 31 August.

Tour de France: Princely Couple attend Historic Final race from Monaco

The Princely couple attended the final stage of the 2024 Tour de France. Big crowds were out amongst a festive atmosphere to see the cyclists off. Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) confirmed his third overall victory by coming in first place in the race from Monaco to Nice.

Before the race, Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, spoke about the strong links that unite Paris and the Principality, the Grande Boucle and his deep respect for the Sovereign. The Director also said that the Tour de France restarted in 1947 thanks to efforts by the Grimaldi family to take charge of all the accommodation on a Monaco-Paris trip.
