Mariska Hargitay awarded Crystal Nymph
Prince Albert II presented the Crystal Nymph award to Mariska Hargitay on Friday night at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
For nearly 20 years, Mariska Hargitay has been playing Constable Olivia Benson, who defends sexual abuse victims in the New York Special Unit of the Law & Order series. A fight that Mariska Hargitay continues off-camera, via the Joyful Heart Foundation, which helps victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. Friday night, when receiving the Crystal Nymph for her entire career in acting, she paid special tribute to those who spoke out during the #MeToo movement.
Princess Charlene at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival
Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the closing ceremony of 58th Monte-Carlo Television Festival at the Grimaldi Forum in a beautiful long dress by Carolina Herrera. The festival was created by Prince Rainier III and has been under the honorary presidency of Prince Albert II since 1988.
Historic Grimaldi Visit to La Turbie
At the crossing of Laghet and Nice, on the main access road for motorway drivers, a new sign signifying friendship between Monaco and La Turbie has been put up to indicate a Historic Grimaldi Site. The sign was inaugurated by the Sovereign, in the presence of Jean-Jacques Raffaele, Mayor of La Turbie and Jean-Claude Guibal President of the Grimaldi Association of Historic Sites of Monaco. Since his accession to the throne in 2005, Prince Albert II has continued to explore the seven centuries of Grimaldi family history. A family that still holds titles of nobility in many regions. In recent years, the sovereign has journeyed to these ancient family fiefs, a hundred identified all over France and Italy.
Prince Albert II plants Flowers for Bees
At l’École du Parc, Prince Albert II took part in the ‘Flowers for bees’ project by sowing flower seeds with the students. The program was launched by the French Observatory of Apidology last year and has been extended to the Principality to fight against the declining numbers of these vital insects. Approximately 3,000 bags of seeds were distributed to all schools in the Principality, with the support of the Prince Albert II Foundation. Bees are an integral part of a chain of pollination, which 30% of our food depends on. To avoid a world without fruits and vegetables, the French observatory of Apidology has been distributing seeds which will bloom into flowers that will feed bees in Monaco, France and England.
The Princely Family at the 1st Historic Grimaldi Sites Cultural Event
At the Palace Square, Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene and their two children came out of their home and onto the Palace Square for a special event, the 1st meeting of the Historic Grimaldi sites of Monaco. Prince Jacques, The Marquis des Baux, was dressed in traditional attire from the Baux de Provence and Princess Gabriella, the Countess of Carladès, wore a traditional Barrézienne dress. The princely twins, who received these titles of nobility at birth, were able to experience the culture of the ancient Grimaldi fiefs during the fun-filled day.
For this first edition, the sovereign also invited the city of Menton, to express his gratitude to mayor Jean Claude Guibal who created the Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco association in 2015. The whole Princely family and everyone in attendance experienced culinary and cultural traditions of these ancient fiefs from Provence and Cantal with dancing, drawing, puppet shows and even a piñata filled with treats.
