Princess Charlene and Princess Naomi of Orléans march for Animal Welfare

Princess Charlene, president of the SPA of Monaco and Princess Naomi of Orléans, ambassador of the Rokéthon association, took part in the first march against the abandonment of animals, which took place around the Fontvieille marquee on Saturday 5 October.

Charlene’s brother, Gareth Wittstock and actor Chris DeRose were also present amongst other animal-lovers who come out in support of the cause with their furry friends.

Princess Charlene illuminates the Casino Square for Pink Ribbon Monaco

Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the Pink Ribbon Monaco event on 4 October and illuminated the Casino Square in vibrant pink to support the Principality’s breast cancer awareness campaign and launch the Pink October initiative.

Earlier this year, Princess Charlene became the Honorary President of Pink Ribbon Monaco. Launched in 2011, Pink Ribbon Monaco is the first association in the region to celebrate breast cancer awareness month and light up buildings in pink. Led by founder Natasha Frost-Savio, Pink Ribbon Monaco strives to promote early detection and awareness by organizing two significant events throughout the year: the Pink Ribbon Walk in February and pink lights in October.

Prince Albert II and the King of Cambodia celebrate Francophonie at the Élysée

Prince Albert II participated in the 19th Francophonie Summit on 4-5 October at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts. At the end of the first day, the Sovereign and King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia were invited to an official dinner at the Élysée Palace by President Emmanuel Macron.

The Francophonie summit was held in France for the first time in 33 years. With 68 million inhabitants, France is the second-largest country with French as one of its official languages, behind the Democratic Republic of Congo (81 million inhabitants, half of whom are French-speaking). Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, is the city with the most French speakers in the world. This year’s theme was “create, innovate and undertake in French” for the 320 million French speakers living on five continents worldwide.

Prince Albert’s Car Collection is on Display in Mulhouse

The Musée National de l’Automobile in Mulhouse is hosting a unique exhibition titled “From Monaco to Mulhouse: The Collection of Prince Albert II” from 13 April to 3 November. The event offers a glimpse into the Grimaldi family’s long-standing love of cars. Curated by Richard Keller and Rodolphe Rapetti, the exhibition showcases about twenty vintage vehicles from the personal collection of HSH Prince Albert II, a collection started by his father, Prince Rainier III.

Prince Albert II celebrates 100 years of AS Monaco and Kicks off Historic Match

Prince Albert II kicked off the Ligue 1 match between AS Monaco and Montpellier HSC to commemorate the Monegasque club’s centenary, on 28 September. It was a tight match with a score of 1-1, but Monaco managed to sneak a win in the final seconds of the game!

Louis Ducruet and Monaco’s Minister of State, Didier Guillaume, were also present. The Monaco Football Club was founded in August 1924 by merging four local football clubs located in the Principality and Beausoleil. The Louis II stadium has been home to the club since 1939.

Prince Albert II reopens a Bridge damaged by Storm Alex

Prince Albert II inaugurated the Pont du Coq, a stone bridge listed as a historic monument, which was damaged by storm Alex in October 2020. The Prince’s Government financed €120,000 of the €125,000 cost of renovating the bridge. €3 million from the Monegasque government and the Fondation du Patrimoine have been allocated to the reconstruction of 13 projects in the Roya, Vésubie, Tinée and Moyen Var valleys. The original Pont du Coq was built in the 15th century but was washed away by a flood in the 17th century and was rebuilt in 1710.

Prince Albert II makes Historic visit to Belfort

Prince Albert II visited Belfort, in Northeastern France, on Thursday 3 October. After being welcomed to the Town Hall by Mayor Damien Meslot and President of the Departmental Council, Florian Bouquet, the Sovereign Prince unveiled a ‘Grimaldi Historic Site’ plaque at the entrance of the town.

The Prince was then welcomed to the Alstom site, where he was presented with the group’s renewable hydrogen projects and the new TGV M engines, embodying the future of rail transport. The day ended at the Belfort Citadel, where the Sovereign took in the panoramic view of the Territoire de Belfort.
