The Princely family came out to watch the finals and semi-finals of the 2024 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters Tennis Tournament at the Monte Carlo Country Club on 13 and 14 April.
Prince Albert II, Melanie-Antoinette de Massy, Princess Alexandra and her boyfriend Ben-Sylvester Strautmann attended the semifinals.
The next day, Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene, Prince Jacques, Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo, Princess Alexandra and Melanie De Massy attended the Final match between Casper Ruud (from Norway) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (from Greece).
Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed the victory, winning his third Monte Carlo Masters title in the last four years!
Crown Prince Jacques, 10 years old, sported a regal look with sunglasses perched on his nose. Last year, Princess Gabriella, the twin sister of the heir to the throne, was also present. Albert, Charlène, and Jacques sat near their cousin, Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, president of the Monte-Carlo Country Club and the Monaco Tennis Federation.
Prince Albert II announces a New Explorations of Monaco Mission during Barcelona’s Ocean Decade
While participating in the 2nd Ocean Decade event in Barcelona, Prince Albert II announced a new Explorations of Monaco Mission to Greece and beyond, scheduled to begin in October 2024. The announcement was made on Wednesday 10 April, during the Prince’s speech at the conference.
Under the mission’s three goals of diplomacy, science and mediation, the first stopover will be in Greece’s marine protected areas. Previous missions included Martinique, Hawaii, New Caledonia and Palau. These next explorations will stay closer to home. After Greece, explorations will continue to two or three Mediterranean countries per year until 2030.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene present Red Cross First Aid Diplomas
The Princely couple awarded 5,000 people trained in first aid by the Red Cross of Monaco. Prince Albert II, president of Monaco’s Red Cross and Princess Charlene, vice-president, were accompanied by Mathieu Liberatore, head of First Aid. Among the 5,000 graduates of the course, 1,261 people obtained 1st level of training. During the ceremony, first aid graduates who obtained the best results were honoured on stage.
Prince Albert II attends Monaco’s 75th anniversary dinner at UNESCO
On 11 April, Prince Albert II participated in a dinner organised by the Permanent Delegation of Monaco to UNESCO, to celebrate 75 years of the Principality’s membership in this specialised UN institution dedicated to culture, education and science.
To highlight youth and education, the dinner was specially imagined, prepared and served by the students of Monaco’s Lycée Rainier III, accompanied by their teachers. Many UNESCO Ambassadors and personalities attended the evening.
To celebrate this anniversary year, the Permanent Delegation of Monaco will be organising several more events in the upcoming months. Monaco joined UNESCO on 6 July 1949.
Princess Stephanie and Prince Albert II meet with UNAIDS Director Winnie Byanyima
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Fight Aids Monaco, Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS, visited Monaco for the first time and met with Princess Stephanie, President of Fight Aids Monaco. The pair also met with Prince Albert II at the Prince’s Palace before visiting the Fight Aids Monaco offices.
Winnie Byanyima thanked Princess Stephanie by presenting her with an honorary plaque for her role as UNAIDS International Ambassador and for her strong involvement as President of Fight Aids Monaco. Winifred Byanyima is a Ugandan aeronautical engineer, politician, human rights activist, feminist and diplomat. She became the executive director of UNAIDS in November 2019.
