Prince Albert II celebrates 24th Anniversary of Monaco’s ‘Slow Food’ Movement
The Slow Food Monaco Riviera Côte d’Azur association, which was developed as a healthier response to fast food, celebrated its 24th anniversary with Prince Albert II and a gourmet dinner prepared by chef Frédéric Ramos. Local produce was on the menu with artichoke from Var, John Dory fish, Sisteron lamb, Peymeinade cheese and Calisson with quince puree for dessert. The Slow Food movement was first founded by Carlo Petrini in Italy in 1986 and promotes local food and traditional cooking.
National Day: Republican Guard Cavalry will be on the Place du Palais
Monaco will be celebrating National Day on 19 November with special guests: a dozen riders from the Republican Guard, the only mounted French military unit, who will join this year’s parade on the Prince’s Palace Square. The horse riders will be under the command of Colonel Marie-Audrey Leheup, the first woman to head the Republican Guard cavalry regiment, and Squadron Leader Marc Lepretre. The last time that the horse riders visited Monaco was 128 years ago, in 1896, when French President Félix Faure was received with honours at the Prince’s Palace.
Prince Rainier III chose the day of his patron saint as the day of the “Fête nationale”. In memory of his father, Prince Albert II kept the same date, solidifying the date of Monaco’s Fête Nationale on 19 November.
Princely Couple hand out Gifts to the Elderly at the Monaco Red Cross
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene visited the headquarters of the Monaco Red Cross to hand out gifts to 132 elderly people in need (105 women and 27 men). The gourmet packages were prepared by Red Cross’s Social Service teams. Among the recipients was centenarian Germaine Le Menn, who also received a small red and white bouquet from Princess Charlene.
In addition, the Red Cross also gives 390 packages to the town halls of neighbouring municipalities for their seniors. Prince Albert II is the President and Princess Charlene is the Vice-President of the Monaco Red Cross.
Prince Albert II receives Legend Award at the ASM Centenary Celebration
Prince Albert II, along with Olympic triathlon champion Cassandre Beaugrand and athlete Téo Andant, attended the AS Monaco Omnisports 100th anniversary party on 13 November at the Rainier III Auditorium. The ceremony began with the Monegasque national anthem, sang by the choir of the Rainier III Academy orchestra. All twenty-three ASM sports sections paraded before a speech by President Roland Biancheri. Prince Albert II was awarded the Special Legend Prize before athletes were awarded badges and trophies. The ASM has over 4,500 members.
Princess Charlene signals the start of the 25th No Finish Line
Princess Charlene of Monaco officially opened the 25th edition of No Finish Line Monaco on Saturday 16 November. Cap gun pointed to the sky, the Princess singled the start of a charity race that isn’t about speed but length, because every kilometre completed equals a donation to benefit disadvantaged and sick children. The event was established by the Jeune Chambre Économique of Monaco in 1999 to mark Monaco’s first Children’s Rights Day. No Finish Line ends on 24 November.
Princess Caroline and Princess Alexandra visit the Köchert Jewelry Exhibition
Princess Caroline, Princess Alexandra and Ben Sylvester Strautmann attended the opening of the A.E. Köchert Fine Jewelry Exhibition at the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco.
“We had the honour and pleasure to celebrate the opening of our Fine Jewellery exhibition at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo with HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover,” stated the Vienna-based jewelry brand, which was founded in 1814.
Beatrice Borromeo notably wore pink-coloured Köchert drop earrings made of morganite, a gift from her mother-in-law, Princess Caroline, during her civil marriage to Pierre Casiraghi.
Prince Albert II Foundation teams up with the Vendée Globe Foundation to Protect the Oceans
Prince Albert II signed a historic partnership agreement with the Vendée Globe Foundation, with the aim of better protecting the oceans, on 8 November in Les Sables-d’Olonne. The Sovereign highlighted the importance of the partnership, which combines science, sport and environmental commitment. The agreement was signed in the presence of Alain Leboeuf, President of the Vendée Departmental Council, Gilles Sallé, President of the Vendée Globe Foundation and Olivier Wenden, Vice-President of the Prince Albert II Foundation.
