Prince Albert II speaks with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Palace
Prince Albert II received Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy at the Palace on Friday 31 January. Several senior Italian representatives were also in attendance.
The Sovereign and the Italian party discussed bilateral relations, cultural ties between the two countries and the Principality’s participation as an observer in the Franco-Italian border cooperation committee. The meeting preceded the official meeting of the Franco-Italian border cooperation commission, established by the Treaty of the Quirinal, which was held in Nice on 5 February.
Prince Albert II celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Louis II Stadium
The Sovereign attended an official ceremony in the Salon d’Honneur VIP area at the Louis II Stadium on 4 February to celebrate the 40th birthday of the stadium. The ceremony was attended by those who helped build and develop the stadium, which was inaugurated on 25 January 1985 by Prince Rainier III. For four decades, the Louis II Stadium has hosted the Principality’s biggest sporting events.
Celebrations will continue with a brand-new exhibition titled ‘Il était une première fois’ (There Was a First Time) which will be unveiled in April 2025. A commemorative stamp celebrating 40 years of the Louis II Stadium will be issued on 18 March 2025.
Princess Caroline inaugurates AGORA Exhibition
Princess Caroline viewed the ‘AGORA, the place of the museum’ exhibition at the Villa Sauber. Björn Dahlström, director of the NMNM and Benjamin Laugier, curator of the exhibition joined the Princess during the vernissage. Princess Caroline is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the NMNM.
The exhibition features the ‘Collection voyageuse’, ‘Nouveau Musée Numérique’, work from Léa Collet’s current residency (which offers regular workshops) and the “Ecoletopie” project by smarin studio (which offers a mediation salon). Another feature of the AGORA exhibition is a series of events, screenings and performances in a ‘meeting place’ designed by Olivier Vadrot on the ground floor of the Villa. The exhibition runs until 4 May 2025.
Charlotte Casiraghi reveals her Passion for Nail polish!
During Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, Charlotte Casiraghi revealed one of her lesser-known passions. The Chanel ambassador attended the Chanel Spring-Summer 2025 show on 28 January at the Grand Palais. Wearing an outfit from Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2025 Collection, Charlotte Casiraghi had an exclusive interview with NSS France, who asked her what is ‘the strangest subject that you know by heart?’ Charlotte Casiraghi replied, ‘I would say nail polish. I am obsessed with nail polish. I know a lot about the different brands and colours. It’s a bit of a strange passion!’
Prince Albert II supports the creation of a New Grimaldi Museum in Drôme
Prince Albert II recently confirmed his financial support of 50,000 euros to the commune of Bathernay, in Drôme, as part of a project to build a museum dedicated to Imbert de Bathernay, a leading figure of the 15th century and distant ancestor of the Grimaldi family.
The mayor of Bathernay, Denis Deroux, unveiled the plans to build the museum around the former stately home of the Grimaldi ancestor. Listed as a Grimaldi historic site since May 2023, Bathernay is a small village of around 250 inhabitants. The museum will include artifacts, documents, interactive features and an open-air theatre with a capacity of about 100 seats. The official inauguration of the museum is planned for 2026, in the presence of Prince Albert II.
Prince Albert II sends a Dispatch to Donald Trump
Prince Albert II sent an official dispatch to the President of the United Stated on 31 January. The Sovereign sent his condolences following the deadly collision between an American Airlines airliner and a military helicopter over Washington DC, causing the death of 64 people.
“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the tragic plane crash on the banks of the Potomac….On behalf of the people of Monaco, I would like to express our deepest condolences to you, to the families of the victims, and to all those affected by this devastating event. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in these difficult times. We stand with the people of the United States as they cope with this profound loss. May you find strength and comfort in the support of those around you. Please be assured, Mr. President, of our sincere sympathy.”
