The Prince’s first impressions of the PyeongChang Games have been positive from a technical point of view, but for outdoor sports, the weather conditions have been a bit difficult. A highlight for the Prince at this year’s Olympics was during the opening ceremony, when South Korea and North Korea presented themselves under the same flag. The Prince said that it was a wonderful message of hope and peace.

Prince Albert visits the Olympic Village

After being welcomed by the mayor of the village Ryu Seung-Min (olympic table tennis champion) and Yvette Lambin Berti (general secretary of the Monegasque Olympic Committee), Prince Albert II had lunch with the Monegasque delegation at the PyeongChang Olympic Village. He then took the opportunity to visit the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) booth as well a station where athletes can vote to elect members of the IOC. South Korea’s Olympic Village, at the foot of beautiful snow-capped peaks, has a unique multicultural atmosphere where athletes can get to know each other, make friends, compete, celebrate and enjoy the spirit of the Games.
