Prince Albert opened the doors of his Palace during an exclusive one hour interview with Nikos Aliagas, which aired on 2 July on Europe 1. Listeners were taken to the heart of Monaco’s princely world, and were able to see another facet of Prince Albert, as he talked about his memories and the history of the Grimaldi dynasty.
HE Flavien Enongoué presents Letter of Credence to Prince Albert II
The Ambassador High Representative of Gabon in France and Permanent Representative to the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) presented Prince Albert II with a Letter of Credence. The ceremony took place on Wednesday 27 June at the Palace of Monaco.
A letter of credence is the instrument by which a head of state appoints an ambassador to foreign countries. The Principality mobilized to welcome the new Ambassador by having the flag of Gabon flying high in Monaco.
Prince Albert becomes honorary citizen of Dolceacqua
As part of an official visit, Prince Albert II visited the municipality of Dolceacqua in Italy. In the presence of members of the Municipal Council, the Mayor of Dolceacqua, Fulvio Gazzola, presented the Sovereign Prince with an honorary citizenship. Strong links which unite the two territories date back to 1491, during the union of Princess Francoise Grimaldi and Luc Doria de Dolceacqua.
Charlotte Casiraghi shows of baby bump at the Jumping de Monte-Carlo
Charlotte Casiraghi couldn’t hide her happiness and her baby bump when she attended the 13th edition of the Jumping de Monte-Carlo. The daughter of Princess Caroline is expecting her first child with partner Dimitri Rassam, She is already a mother to young Raphael from a previous relationship with Gad Elmaleh. The 31-year-old Monegasque was absolutely radiant at the event, which she could not participate in this year, for good reason. She presented the trophies of the Pro Am Cup, a ceremony made sweeter by a victory for Monaco.
Prince Albert II greets marathon water skier Alex Luther
Marathon water skier Alex Luther made a stop in Monaco on Friday night, halfway through his attempt to break his grandfather Harry Luther’s record. Back in 1970, Rainier III greeted Harry Luther. Now, 48 years later, Prince Albert II greeted his grandson.
The 36 year old athlete is attempting a 5,010 km journey on water skies, which began on 26 June in Tangier, Morocco. On the Yacht Club’s vessel, Prince Albert saluted the Australian, as Prince Rainier III did for Harry Luther. Alex Luther’s goal is to match or beat his grandfather’s record, which has never been broken.
Monument honours Eight Mentonnais who died for Monaco in 1571
In the presence of Prince Albert II, a monument was inaugurated on Fontana Square. It pays homage to the eight people from Menton who died during the great naval battle of 7 October 1571. Eight names are engraved on the stone to honour the people who have marked the history of Menton and Monaco. Above the eight names is Monaco’s coat of arms. The unveiling of the monument was also the opportunity to inaugurate Fontana Square, which was recently renovated, in the presence of the Prince.
Prince Albert attends Tour de France
Prince Albert II was present for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Vendée. The Tour de France 2018 began under a clear sky on Saturday 7 July at 11:09 am. The kick-off for the 105th edition of the famous event was given by its director Christian Prudhomme in the presence of Prince Albert as well as the French Minister of Sports Laura Flessel and Eddy Merckx, the Belgian champion and cycling legend.
Monaco is now President of The International Coral Reef Initiative
On Wednesday 4 July 2018, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, France presented the chairmanship of The International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) to Monaco, Australia and Indonesia, during a ceremony at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
In his address, HE the Sovereign Prince spoke about the great responsibility human societies must undertake for coral reefs and their diversity. Monaco will focus on the reinforcement of political tools, management and preservation of the reefs, the understanding of the evolution of interactions between humans and the reefs, and finally, on public mobilization and new financial capabilities during this co-presidency.
Prince Albert inaugurates ‘The Gold of the Pharaohs’ Exhibition
Six years after their Queens of Egypt exhibition, the Grimaldi Forum revisits the land of the pharaohs with its summer exhibition, inaugurated by Prince Albert II. The prince experienced the exhibition, which includes 150 pieces of exceptional gold pieces from ancient Egypt which have never left the country until now. Under the curation of the Egyptologist Christiane Ziegler, the focus of ‘The Gold of the Pharaohs’ is on the craftsmanship of ancient Egypt. The precious objects date back to 3,000 BC and can be seen until 9 September at the Grimaldi Forum.
Princess Stéphanie attended 8th anniversary of House of Life
Princess Stéphanie of Monaco visited the House of Life (Maison de Vie) which celebrates 8th anniversary of its establishment. On 26 June 2010, Princess Stéphanie inaugurated the House of Life (French: Maison de Vie) in Carpentras, France, which offers both psychological and material aid to persons living with either HIV and AIDS and their families. Princess Stephanie and her family attended 2018 charity gala of FAM
On July 7, 2018, Princess Stephanie of Monaco and her family, Pauline Ducruet, Camille Gottlieb, Louis Ducruet and Marie Chevallier attended the 2018 gala dinner held at Monte Carlo Sporting Club for the benefit of Fight AIDS Monaco (FAM). The theme of the gala was “fiesta” and its dress code was “Gypsy”.
