The competition is quite successful every year: ‘Open Artists’ is indeed open to the greatest number of entries and goes beyond the borders of the Principality. L’Entrepôt Gallery has recenlty announced the launch of the 8th edition of this artistic competition, with the main goal of freeing the imagination.
“The principle of ‘Open’ is that everybody can participate, everyone can share their creation. And, at the right moment, the jury is there to monitor, judge and select. Three pieces will be selected by the public via the internet as well, which is a way to make the competition more international and surpass borders. The last editions had 200,000 page views during the duration of the competition, from many countries. I want this year’s edition to extend even further,” said Daniel Boeri, Director at l’Entrepot Gallery.
Everyone can participate with their preferred medium, the only obligation is to adhere to a chosen theme. This year’s theme is “Borders, their limits, their thickness”.
“Obviously, people are starting to think. I believe it’s important that the ‘Open’ stays open. Remember, the first theme was ‘Happy like Ulysses’, and last year’s theme was about laughter, but ‘laughter in the world as it is’. So to talk about borders today, their limits, their thickness, isn’t meant to restrict creativity, it’s really about transgression. Because limits and creativity allow one to discover and exceed their limits,” said Daniel Boeri.
It’s now up to you to exceed your limits and participate, if you’re inspired to do so.
The deadline to apply to ‘Open Artists’ is the 30th of November.
Entered pieces must arrive by January 2018 and internet voting begins on the 1st of February 2018.
