Last June, The Minister of State of Monaco H.E. Mr. Serge Telle; Vice President and CEO of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation; H.E. Mr. Bernard Fautrier and government members presented a zero emissions vehicle. The presentation was held within the framework of promoting “clean” vehicles.
Today, 1.300 electric and hybrid cars travel around Monaco. This is 3% of the total Principality’s fleet. For Europe, this number is a real record. Electric cars are a brand new phenomenon, taking about 0.5% of the total European car market.
The Principality encourages drivers to buy “clean” vehicles by paying 30% of the cost, including VAT, to a private buyer of electric transport (the payment excludes the price of additional options and does not surpass 9000 euros).
The benefits continue after purchase as well. Drivers of “clean” cars get free charging at public parking lots and public roads, free parking on the streets of Monaco and complimentary annual registration. Preserving our atmosphere remains the main advantage of environmentally friendly vehicles.
