or the first time in Monaco, International Women’s Sports Day was celebrated with two events celebrating women in motorsport at the Prince’s Car Collection museum on 24 January. Steps away from the iconic Grand Prix circuit, the event featured a conference aimed to motivate female students in Monaco ages 14-22 to pursue careers in motorsport.
Supported by Iron Dames and the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, several guest speakers (four of whom are residents of Monaco) gave inspiring talks. Speakers included Delphine Biscaye, F1 Academy Competition Manager, Marta Garcia, Iron Dames and F1 Academy 2023 Champion and Michèle Mouton, World Rally Vice-Champion, who was the guest of honour.
“This was a wonderful opportunity to inspire young girls to engage in motorsport, while showcasing the achievements of the women who play a vital role in the industry. It is essential to highlight that motorsport is an inclusive space for women, and we are dedicated to promoting their contributions and successes across all areas of the sport,” said Tiffaney Perlino, President of Women in Motorsport Commission ACM.
Women in Motorsport Book Launch with Prince Albert II
Following the event, a cocktail with HSH Prince Albert II marked the official launch of the ‘100 Years of Women: Motorsport & Monaco’ book, written by Nancy Heslin and Lacey Da Costa. Students from FANB, ISM, IUM and ITM who attended the conference were gifted a copy of the new book.
Beautifully illustrated and meticulously researched, the 240-page not-for-profit book in English features the world’s greatest female drivers from rally to F1 who have competed in Monaco since 1925. The book features sixty-five timeless stories of women written by women, offering a narrative filled with glamour, adventure and triumph in a male-dominated sport. There is also a chapter on women in Monaco and their roles in motorsport. The book retails for €50, with a portion of sales supporting next-gen female talent in motorsport.
The events were organized by Martine Ackermann (Child CARE Monaco), Valérie Closier (Director Prince’s Car Collection), Nancy Heslin (Co-founder Carob Tree Publishing) and Tiffaney Perlino (President of Women in Motorsport Commission ACM) to coincide with Monaco as the 2025 World Capital of Sport.
