Where it will be possible to travel out of Nice airport this summer

The summer holiday season is fast approaching and the airlines are jockeying for what they hope to be a partial boom as opposed to the bust of 2020.

And 2020 was indeed a shocker for Air France-KLM who announced losses reported at over 7 billion euros and a reorganization that threatens over 300 jobs reportedly especially around its provincial hubs like Nice, Marseille and Toulouse. The downsizing mostly involves bases that support operations rather than any of the flight routes per se. In fact the flight routes are being expanded.

The airlines are already acting as if Covid is in the rear-view mirror and anticipating that seasonal holiday traffic will gradually build back up. Air France will hotly contest British Airways and Easy Jet as it organizes to attract passengers out of Nice and is offering them a plethora of new destinations.

Competition for Nice Traffic is Hot

British Airways is hot on the heels of Air France with its flights from Nice to UK’s Gatwick and London-City airports. And the low-cost airline Volotea joins the action. The plan is to soon be connecting Lille with the Mediterranean. Their new route is reported to be between Lille-Lesquin airport and Nice airport starting from 3rd June.
