Prince Albert II speaks at the UN’s Ocean Conference
The Sovereign reiterated his determination to mobilize the international community during the Ocean Conference at the United Nations Headquarters. An event which Prince Albert II, who is particularly sensitive to this cause, could not fail to attend. The Sovereign clarified the need to “reconcile humanity and the sea”.
The Prince said: “To cope with the scale and complexity of the challenges we face, only a holistic approach can be crowned as successful. The establishment of new multi-stakeholder partnerships resulting from this conference will create far more progress than the sum of our individual actions….Responsibility and solidarity. Approaches at the heart of the commitment from my country, the Principality of Monaco. I am therefore particularly pleased that the entire international community is joining us in this essential struggle.”
Later in the day, he also co-chaired, with the representative of Mozambique, a dialogue session on ocean acidification and ways to minimize it.

Prince Albert II tests the HoloLens at e-healthworld Monaco
The 3rd edition of e-healthworld Monaco, organized by Dr. Charles Nahmanovici and his team at the Fairmont Hotel, welcomed Prince Albert II, who discovered many technological advancements in the world of medicine.
Pepper the robot welcomed the Prince and engaged in conversation. The friendly machine demonstrates how robots can help health staff with many auxiliary tasks, leaving doctors and caregivers more available for patients.
The sovereign also attended a session on surrogate organs, where the devices for auditory, cardiac and visual functions, as well as the regulation of diabetes by insulin pumps, were portrayed.
And to immortalize the visit, Albert II was also able to write a message on the e-healthworld blockchain which will be eternal.

Albert II inaugurated ‘Sensais’, new restaurant in Monaco
After almost a year of groundwork, Albert and Jean-Pierre Escande were finally able to officially inaugurate their new restaurant on rue Portier in the presence of Prince Albert II. After a complete restructuring of the building, the two restaurateurs, ex-owners of the Terminus in the Condamine, chose to create this new establishment with a name that symbolizes a coming together of senses and seasons, recreated in the kitchen by chefs Pascal Silman and Dominique Nouvian.
Princess Caroline attends Exhibition at Villa Sauber
Princess Caroline visited two exhibitions presented at Villa Sauber, talking with artists to understand their approaches in projects relating to the notion of archives and heritage.
Following the Saâdane Afif project presented on the ground floor, the first floor of Villa Sauber is devoted to Danish photographer Kasper Akhoj. Again, a reflection on the notion of archives. Using a portfolio made at the time when Eileen Gray occupied the house, Kasper Akhoj created fifty-nine black and white photos made between 2009 and 2017.
Princess Caroline visited 50th Monaco Flower Contest
Princess Caroline of Hanover visited 50th International Bouquet Contest (Concours de Bouquets) held by Garden Club at Monaco Fontvieille Park. Since 1968, Monaco Garden Club has been holding a bouquet contest every year among 100-150 contestants including those coming from distant countries. Garden Club is a non-profit organization established in 1968. Princess Caroline wore a printed dress by MIU MIU.
Pierre Casiraghi goes boating with Monaco’s Youth
Pierre Casiraghi, vice-president of the Yacht Club of Monaco, alongside Bernard d’Alessandri, secretary general, met with about forty young people from the sailing school to present Malizia 2 which will be used with his German teammate Boris Herrmann during the Vendée Globe 2020 (aka “Everest of the seas”). A new boat he has tested on hectic seas with Boris Herrmann, his teammate since 2013. The two friends will continue to pursue adventure with a very ambitious goal: the Vendée Globe in 2020.
By 2020, both will participate in many regattas and “train to a maximum” to improve and motivate themselves, and gain experience. They are also preparing to participate in the Rolex Fastnet 2017, from 1 to 12 August. A mythical race, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, with nearly 300 sailboats travelling 1000 km. The regatta criss-crosses the English coasts before crossing the Irish Sea and coasting along the Fastnet rock before arriving in Plymouth.
Before this next adventure, the public will be able to discover the Malizia 2 at the Fête de la Mer on 17 June, where a parade is planned with Twiga, a boat from the Yacht club of Monaco.
Charlotte and Pierre Casiraghi attended 2017 Philosophical Encounters
Charlotte Casiraghi and Pierre Casiraghi attend the “Philosophical Encounters” (Les Rencontres Philosophiques) held at the Oceanographic Museum. The Philosophical Encounters that were founded in 2015 by Charlotte Casiraghi aims to open up philosophy to the greatest number by proposing series of thematic conferences. The theme of 2017 is “The time of the conversation”. Charlotte wore a Prada silk pajama set.
