Prince Albert II welcomed Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at the Prince’s Palace. The meeting underscored the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Monaco and Italy, with discussions focusing on bilateral relations, cultural exchanges, and Monaco’s role as an observer on the Franco-Italian border cooperation committee.

Tajani was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Riccardo Guariglia, Secretary General of Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region, and Manuela Ruosi, Italy’s Ambassador to Monaco. Their discussions took place ahead of the Franco-Italian border cooperation committee meeting in Nice, established under the Quirinal Treaty and co-chaired by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Tajani himself.
This diplomatic encounter follows a series of engagements by Prince Albert II aimed at strengthening Monaco’s relationship with Italy. In September 2024, he travelled to Rome to inaugurate Monaco’s new embassy offices and meet with members of the Italy-Monaco bilateral friendship section at the Italian Parliament. He also participated in ceremonies honouring the deep historical ties between the two nations.

The Prince also visited Rondine Cittadella della Pace in Tuscany, where he engaged with young leaders committed to conflict resolution and global peace initiatives. His presence there reflected Monaco’s broader commitment to fostering international cooperation and dialogue.
The meeting between Prince Albert II and Antonio Tajani serves as another step in reinforcing the strong political and cultural bonds between Monaco and Italy, furthering a diplomatic relationship rooted in history and shared values.
