Street art is taking a new turn in Monaco, thanks to an exceptional collaboration between the Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco and artist Anthony Alberti, better known by his pseudonym ‘Mr OneTeas’. In a bold and innovative project, the alliance aims to revitalise five unused bollards in the Principality’s prestigious port, Port Hercules.
Mr. OneTeas, whose work often criticises consumer society and highlights environmental issues with humour and insight, is bringing his artistic vision to the maritime world.
The project involves customising five unused bollards on Quai Louis II with contrasting ‘Razzle Dazzle’ motifs: a disruptive camouflage technique used in the last century, particularly during the two World wars, to make it difficult for the enemy to identify the type of vessel and estimate its speed and course thanks to the optical effect.
Razzle Dazzle, with its intricate geometric patterns and stark contrasts, has not only served as a concealment technique, it has also inspired artists and designers throughout the ages.
With this project, Mr OneTeas reinterprets this historic aesthetic, fusing it with contemporary issues and urban art, to transform this port equipment into works of art while underlining Monaco’s commitment to Art and the Environment, introducing a touch of creativity and reflection into the public space.
Through this collaboration, the Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco and Mr OneTeas are showing that Art and port space can intertwine in a meaningful way, bringing beauty, history and reflection to the heart of everyday life.
