Scientific operations carried out by Yersin expedition
Between late August and early October 2017, Monaco Explorations completed 53 mission days at sea and travelled 3,150 nautical miles (5,800 kilometres). Monaco Telecom is first to offer 1 GB Commercial Mobile Phone Network
Last year, the Monegasque telecommunications operator, in partnership with Huawei, a solutions provider in the information and communication technologies sector, launched the first commercial mobile phone network accessible to all compatible terminals reaching speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s – a world first.
Coface Conference for Economic Decision-Makers in the Principality
The Monaco Economic Board (MEB), Banque Populaire Méditerranée and Gramaglia Insurance, held a new conference entitled “Country Risk: Analysis and Business Opportunities” recently at the Salon Bellevue in the Café de Paris. For the fourth year in a row in the Principality, Julian Marcilly, chief economist for Coface, outlined the main global economic trends evoked at the Country Risk Symposium in front of 1,200 experts.
Monaco’s ‘1 birth = 1 tree’ celebrates 10 years
Recently Mayor Georges Marsan and members of the Communal Council Jacques Pastor, Henri Doria and Claude Bollati, joined municipal employees and their families for the tenth “1 birth = 1 tree” plantation, organized by the Government of Monaco in partnership with the Office Nationale des Forêts (ONF).
800 Summer Positions in Monaco
Major hotels in the Principality are all looking for temporary employees in the hotel and restaurant industries for the summer season, which extends from the Rolex Masters tennis tournament in mid-April, to the Monaco Yacht Show in late September. The Société des Bains de Mer organized the first day of recruitment on 23 January to offer 600 seasonal positions.
On 13 February, the Métropole Monte-Carlo will hold its recruiting day to fill 70 positions. The Fairmont Monte-Carlo will look for people qualified in the hotel and catering sectors for 120 positions on 16 February.
AS Monaco in Lyon
AS Monaco athletes travelled to Lyon to participate in the indoor Inter-regional running competition. Tristan Baldini finished with a great time of 48.79s and should qualify for the French championships. Brice Etes, in one of his first 400 m indoor races, ran it in 50.59s. In the junior category, Charlotte Afriat finished third in the 60 m with 7.89s. Kilian Michaut participated in his first 800 m and had a great race with 1:59.39 and will likely qualify for the French Championships.
Special Olympics Monaco Alpine Skiing Competition
The 1st European Grand Prix for Alpine Skiing organized by Special Olympics Monaco was held on the snowy peaks of Isola 2000 from the 1st to 4th of February. The competition brought together 35 skiers representing Andorra, Austria, Catalonia, France and Monaco. Austria was the big winner at the top level for both men and women. In the intermediate level, the French boys and the Monegasque girls were the winners. In the beginner category, Monaco won the men’s competition and Spain and Andorra won the women’s.
