A Record-Breaking Participation
This year’s competition saw a notable increase in participants, with about a hundred more children than last year, all brimming with excitement and energy. These young athletes, representing seven Monégasque schools—Révoires, Fontvieille, La Condamine, Saint-Charles, François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré (FANB), Cours Saint-Maur, and the International School of Monaco (ISM)—formed forty teams and kicked off the tournament at 9 AM with the group stage matches.
The atmosphere was electric as each team played four matches on the pitch of the Rocher players, specially divided into eight fields for the event. Bouba, the club’s beloved mascot, along with AS Monaco’s speaker Laurent Nieloux, kept the spirits high throughout the morning. As the initial round concluded, every school still had at least one team advancing to the round of 16.
Half-Time Show and High Stakes Finals
During the lunch break, the children were entertained by Jonathan Paul, the 2018 French freestyle champion, and a season retrospective of the Rocher players on the stadium’s giant screens.
The final phase of the tournament delivered nail-biting excitement and unexpected twists. Amidst loud cheers from their classmates, the teams from FANB 1 and Condamine 6 emerged as the finalists. The grand finale, marked by roaring support, culminated in a decisive 3-0 victory for FANB 1.
