Prince Albert II and General Cyrille Youchtchenko, commander of the Foreign Legion, attended a ceremony for the presentation of White Képis on 4 April. During the event, 2nd company volunteers from the 4th Foreign Regiment of Castelnaudary were honoured on the Place du Palais. The presence of the Foreign Legion in the Principality can be traced back to the reign of Prince Louis II.
Princely Family supports #Whitecard at a Martial Arts Demonstration
The Princely family demonstrated their support of the #Whitecard campaign during a Paijeda (a Monegasque Martial art) event on Saturday 6 April. Organised by Peace and Sport, the White Card campaign celebrates International Sport Day, an annual celebration of the power of sport to drive social change, community development and foster peace and understanding.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene inaugurate Amazonico
The new Amazonìco restaurant was officially inaugurated by the princely couple, who unveiled a commemorative plaque at the new establishment in the presence of Princess Stephanie, Louis and Marie Ducruet, Camille Gottlieb, Mélanie Antoinette de Massy, Stéphane Valeri and Ferit Sahenk, President of Dream International. About 800 people gathered for the grand opening on Thursday 4 April. Yuri Djorkaeff, ormer AS Monaco player and World Champion, footballer Luis Figo and starred chef Mauro Colagreco were also in attendance. Inspired by Latin America and the Amazon River, the new establishment features signature dishes and Monegasque creations.
Olympics: Lisa Pou and Sébastien Dervieux honoured by Prince Albert II
Lisa Pou, the first Monegasque athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games, and Sébastien Dervieux, French international waterpolo referee, were both honoured by Prince Albert II. The two athletes received a diploma from the Monegasque Swimming Federation (FMN), presented by Prince Albert II, President of the FMN and the Monegasque Olympic Committee. On 3 February, Lisa Pou finishing ninth in the 10 km world swimming championships, earning her ticket to the Paris Games. She will be competing on 8 August. Sébastien Dervieux, who competed in Tokyo in 2021, will also represent Monaco at this summer’s Olympics.
Princess Caroline inaugurates the ‘Pasolini in Chiaroscuro’ Exhibition
Princess Caroline of Hanover, President of the board of the New National Museum of Monaco, inaugurated the “Pasolini in Chiaroscuro” exhibition at Villa Sauber. Some of the artists featured in the exhibition were also in attendance. The exhibition brings together about 30 international artists who pay tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini, an Italian film director considered to be one of the defining public intellectuals in 20th-century Italian history, both as an artist and a political figure. The exhibition runs until 29 September.
