The ticketing is now open. From 15 to 23 April 2017 the tennis courts at the Monte-Carlo Country Club will host the tennis Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, the famous tournament belonging to the highest category of the ATP: the “Masters 1000”.
The Monte Carlo tournament is a male and female tennis tournament played on clay courts. The men’s tournament is held annually since 1897 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Named at that time the Monte Carlo Tennis Championship, it is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world. At the advent of the Open era in 1969, professional players participated and the tournament became among the most prestigious.
It is now part of the Masters 1000. In 2007, during a restructuring of the ATP World Tour, the tournament status was threatened. The organizers, supported by players, took the ATP to court in a lawsuit battle (which they won) and the tournament retained its status of “Masters 1000”. Unlike other tournaments in this category, the thirty best world players are not required to participate although most of them choose to enroll. It is the first of three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments played in the calendar year. The tournament is a player and fan favourite due to its magnificent location and long tradition of champions. Spain’s Rafael Nadal won an Open Era record of eight successive titles there between 2005-2012
