The Principality’s young athletes collected an amazing eight medals during the departmental championships in Nice, including two golds. On Saturday 10 February, Monaco’s athletes were showered with medals at the Charles-Ehrmann Stadium.
Kimora St-Julien won the 50 m with a record of 7:35 and the 50 m hurdles with an excellent time of 8:53. Célestine Lung won three medals, including 2nd place in the 50 m with 6:91 time, second in the triple jump with 9.95 m and 3rd in the long jump with 4.74 m. She also finished in 5th place during the triathlon, with 102 points (a personal record). Isabel Hushvod finished on the 3rd step of the podium in the triple jump behind Celestine with a jump measured at 9 m 75.
For the boys, Maxime Connen finished 4th in the 50 m with 6:60, 4th in the 50 m hurdles with 7:99, 2nd in the long jump with 5.43 m and 2nd in the triathlon with a total of 100 points.
Eight medals and three Golds in Miramas…
Monegasque senior and junior athletes also did incredibly well at the regional indoor championships in Miramas on 3-4 February. They returned to the Principality with eight medals including three golds.
Among the men, François Ducourant won the senior 800 m in 1:54.89. Gold also went to Karim Sfaxi in the 400 m with 49:57.
For the women, Olivia Vild won the triple jump with 11.5 m and second place went to Christel El Saneh with 10.75 m. Christel also took second place in the single jump the next day with 5.43 m.
In the girls hopefuls, second place in the 400 m went to Syria Trifilio with 62:14. Mia Ferracci won second place in the junior pole vault with 2.97 m. Third place in the senior high jump went to Malory Malgherini with a jump of 1.48 m.
