Monaco’s Wins New Haul of Medals at French Karate Championships

Returning from Sainte-Maxime, the Shotokan Karate Club of Monaco proudly boasts three medals and the prestigious title of French Veterans Champion.

In a dazzling display of skill, Magali Faggio clinched the top spot at the French Kumite (combat) Championship on Sunday.

As the French Veterans Combat/Kata Championships unfolded over the weekend of May 25 and 26, the club’s stellar performance highlighted the Principality’s talent on the national stage.

Medal Tally: One Gold and Two Bronze

Saturday’s combat (kumite) events saw Monaco’s athletes shine, with the highlight being Magali Faggio earning the gold medal in the Veterans 2 category.

Sunday’s focus shifted to technical prowess (kata), where Monaco secured two more medals. Both Magali Faggio and Cécile Orrigo claimed bronze in their respective categories, Veterans 2 and Veterans 1.

Claude Bollati, president of the Monaco Karate Federation, praised the club’s achievements. . Reflecting on a memorable victory for the Principality, his remarks were captured in the press, “This Sunday, May 26, the Shotokan Karate Club of Monaco honours Charles Leclerc and Prince Albert II with a French Kumite Champion title and two bronze medals in Kata. We look forward with great anticipation to the 10th Championship of the Small European States of Karate, set to be hosted in Monaco from November 1 to 3, 2024.”

And in Tbilisii Georgia a great 2025 target event, the upcoming Games of the Small States of Europe in 2025, had been on the agenda of the meeting. The Games are slated to take place in Andorra. The meeting served as a platform for sharing insights, exchanging ideas, and solidifying partnerships among the small states of Europe.
