Monaco’s New Espace Léo Ferré is almost ready…

A major hub of culture in the Principality, the Espace Léo Ferré will soon be housed in a new building on Pasteur Island. In a recent press conference, Camille Svara, the Mayor’s Deputy, revealed that the new building is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The cultural establishment, administered by Monaco’s Town Hall, is currently blossoming above the Place du Canton. The îlot Pasteur is an immense project that has been in the works for over six years. Once occupied by an old railway line, the site is only 250 metres by 40 metres, but will soon be home to buildings with a surface area of over 100,000 m².

1,200 seats…

Thanks to its modularity, the Espace Léo Ferré is known for its versatility and can accommodate varied events. The team of passionate professionals who work at the space have earned a great reputation among artists from all disciplines. The new Espace Léo Ferré is expected to have approximately 1,200 seats.

Soon enough, local and international acts will be gracing the stage at the new building. Music and theatre performances by the Rainier III Academy and local dance schools will be scheduled in the future building, along with galas, conferences, congresses and more. The current building has a loyal audience base, something the new space hopes to attract.

Moving the establishment will also free up space for new uses. Once the big move is complete, the old Espace Léo Ferré will be used to expand the Fontvieille Commercial Centre. The îlot Pasteur will also be home to the new Charles III College and the new Media Library.

Legendary rap groups and comedy shows

Upcoming events at the current Espace Léo Ferré include the I am ‘HH History Tour’ (legendary rap group formed in 1989 in Marseille, performing in March), Maxime Gasteuil’s ‘Retour aux Sources’ (comedy show in April) and Ko Ko Mo (psychedelic hard blues duo from Nantes performing in July).
