Monaco’s Columbus Hotel joins Hilton’s upscale Curio Collection

Curio by Hilton will be adding the Columbus Monte-Carlo to its upscale collection in a few short days. The Columbus Monte-Carlo Hotel is located at 23 Avenue des Papalins, in central Fontvielle, across from the Princess Grace Rose Garden.

Boasting views of the Mediterranean Sea, the establishment is just one kilometre away from the Prince’s Palace of Monaco and the Louis II Stadium, with the Oceanographic Museum just ten minutes away.

In April 2010, the Columbus was taken over by London & Regional group, owner of Hilton Park Lane in London and the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco. Since December 2022, Columbus Monte-Carlo is owned by groupe Bertout, a French family-owned company. From December 2023 the hotel will become part of the Curio Collection boutique hotel franchise.

Where Formula-1 Champions stay!

For many years now, the hotel has welcomed many F1 drivers and their teams, including George Russell, Pierre Gasly, Kimi Raïkonnen, Romain Grosjean, Jenson Button, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel, Paul di Resta, Daniel Ricciardo, Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda, Damon Hill and more.

A “Committed Restaurant”

The hotel includes the Tavolo Mediterranean restaurant, an informal bar, a 24-hour fitness centre and a seasonal outdoor pool. According to the Hotel, the seasonal menu at Tavolo is made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Tavolo has obtained the “Committed Restaurant” label (Restaurant Engagé) from the Prince’s Government in recognition of its eco-responsible approach, its commitment to short-circuit local supply chains, waste reduction and recycling and the fight against food waste.

Curio Collection is a hotel brand within the Hilton portfolio. The collection is what’s known as a “soft brand”, meaning the hotels are supported by Hilton, but retain their own individual branding. (Hilton selects independent hotels and resorts to be part of the Curio Collection.) The brand was launched in June 2014 and by January 2017, the Curio Collection included over 30 hotels and resorts in seven countries. As of December 31, 2019, it has expanded to include 91 properties with over 16,600 rooms in 27 countries and territories.

The Columbus Monte-Carlo hotel has 181 rooms. It will be the first hotel under the Hilton brand in Monaco. Canopy by Hilton opened in Cannes in August 2023. (Canopy is Hilton’s twelfth brand.) Curio Collection properties use Hilton’s reservation system and are also part of the Hilton Honours guest-loyalty program.
