On the instructions of HSH Prince Albert II, the Princely Government is actively supporting the operation “Solidarity Christmas for the children of the Roya valley” initiated by the Deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes Alexandra Valetta-Ardisson and the Community of the Agglomeration of the French Riviera. The objective of this broader community involvement is to offer toys to all children from birth up to 14 years old in the Roya valley, which was hit hard after the passage of storm Alex on October 2nd.
Six Hundred Children Affected
In total, nearly 600 children are affected. Very sensitive to the consequences of the bad weather which severely affected the hinterland and its inhabitants, HSH Prince Albert II and his Government are contributing 15,000 euros to this event. Monegasque participation should make it possible to offer a gift to each child.
This gesture of community spirit testifies to the attachment of the Principality of Monaco to the populations of the hinterland. A few days after the devastating passage of storm Alex, the Sovereign Prince visited the site to assess the extent of the damage and show the Principality’s solidarity.
Monaco Contributed 1 Million Euros to Each Valley to Help
Monaco then paid 1 million euros to each of the affected valleys: Vésubie, Roya, Tinée and the city of Vintimille.
In addition to this financial aid, many spontaneous gestures of help are organized by various members of the community and institutions in the Principality of Monaco.
