The third edition of Monaco for Employment, held on February 24th at the Grimaldi Forum, proved to be a resounding success, solidifying its reputation as a key event for job seekers and employers in the Principality. With pre-registrations more than doubling compared to the previous year, the forum showcased Monaco’s thriving job market, innovative new initiatives, and a growing focus on accommodation solutions for seasonal workers.
Bigger, Broader, and More Specialized
Expanding to 4,000m² of exhibition space, this year’s forum featured nearly a hundred stands, offering a wide range of employment opportunities across multiple sectors. As the number of private-sector employees in Monaco continues to rise, reaching over 64,000 by the end of 2024, the event reflected the Principality’s economic resilience and ongoing demand for skilled workers. SBM had already been fast off the mark a month earlier in its own major recruitment drive and followed up again supporting this “Monaco for Employment” initiative.
This year also marked an increased presence from the luxury sector, with major international brands such as LVMH, Richemont, Chanel, Prada and Tiffany participating in the recruitment drive.
HelloMonaco was pleased to interview the HR Manager from Tiffany which has a high profile presence in Monaco. He was eager to impart his enthusiasm at being able to operate within the frame of Monaco hiring practices at this Grimaldi event. It very much facilitated his meeting applicants interested in Tiffany from Monaco and the close surrounding region in France and Italy.
The yachting industry also played a larger role this year , reinforcing its commitment to employment within its network of over 90 companies.
HelloMonaco had the opportunity to talk with Gaëlle Tallarida -Managing Director Of the Monaco Yacht Show. Gaelle was enthusiastic at being able to meet face to face with applicants both from within Monaco, France and the nearby Italian region. Such an efficient way to proceed with hiring for the Yacht Show when so many interested applicants arrive in one place.
To facilitate the recruitment process, a dedicated interview space was introduced, ensuring confidentiality for applicants engaging in discussions with potential employers. Attendees also benefited from QR codes providing digital maps, allowing for smoother navigation through the different themed areas of the forum.
Addressing Key Employment Challenges: Housing and Mobility
Beyond job opportunities, the forum also tackled two major concerns: worker mobility and housing. With the launch of the Zou! regional train service in mid-February, Monaco has taken a step toward improving daily commutes for its workforce. However, securing affordable accommodation remains a significant challenge, particularly for seasonal workers.
In response, a charter was signed between the Monaco government, the Association of Monegasque Hotel Industries (AIHM), and the Regional Center for University and School Works (Crous), introducing a new housing solution for seasonal employees. From May to September, Monaco-based employers will now have access to affordable studio apartments in Nice, with monthly rentals at 478 euros and weekly options at 170 euros. Several employers at the event immediately reserved apartments for their staff, marking a significant step toward easing the housing burden in the region.
The Rise of Temporary Work in Monaco
Another topic of discussion was the increasing role of temporary work in Monaco’s job market. By the end of 2023, temporary workers accounted for nearly 12% of the private sector workforce, a trend that has been steadily growing in recent years. While this sector offers diverse opportunities, including in technical and legal fields, its expansion has been hindered by the lack of a formal legal framework.
The government has reopened discussions on a legislative proposal to regulate temporary work, with an emphasis on collaboration between the Federation of Monegasque Enterprises (FEDEM), the National Council, and other key stakeholders. If consensus is reached, new regulations could be implemented in the near future, further strengthening the flexibility and security of Monaco’s evolving job market.
A Forum That Continues to Evolve
With 5,938 participants recorded, Monaco for Employment 2025 surpassed previous editions, underscoring its growing importance for both job seekers and employers. The event’s success was not only reflected in the numbers but also in the introduction of new initiatives—from enhanced luxury and yachting sector participation to innovative housing solutions and discussions on employment regulations.
As Monaco continues to adapt to economic shifts and workforce demands, this forum has proven to be more than just a job fair—it is a strategic platform for shaping the Principality’s labour market and ensuring sustainable employment solutions for the future.
With this momentum, one thing is certain: Monaco for Employment will continue to expand and innovate, keeping pace with the Principality’s ever-evolving economic landscape.
