Monaco celebrates Women’s Day with Princess Charlene!

A full day of events unfolded on International Women's Day in Monaco, including a workshop by Princess Charlene. On 8 March, the Women's Rights Committee of Monaco organized the second edition of PowHer at Espace Léo Ferré, with free activities from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Things kicked off in the morning with a round table with actress and directer, Audrey Dana, gamer and E-sport champion, Kayane, fashion stylist and graphic designer, Harmony Larcher, and painter and ambassador for Women’s rights, Toby Wright. The panel discussed the representation of women in arts and media. Next, the results of a photography contest, which was open to students in Monaco, and a public speaking contest took place. Winners claimed their awards during the ceremony.

After lunch, there was something for everyone, with lots of fun activities for all ages. A video game area, an escape game, cosplayers, two exhibitions about remarkable women in Monegasque history and a first aid workshop took place, in the presence of Princess Charlene.

Princess Charlene gives Life-Saving Workshop

Princess Charlene gave workshops on life-saving methods for rescuing babies, children and adults, with a particular emphasis on cardiac resuscitation and preventing the risk of suffocation. The workshops were organized by the Monaco Red Cross in collaboration with the Entreparents and Femmes Leaders Mondiales Monaco. The Princess also attended other activities during the day.

Manga Portraits

For anyone who wondered what they might look like as a anime character, a portrait booth by Sinath Bou, a renowned artist, showed people their manga versions! Towards the exit, a photo booth in front of a scene created by graffiti artist Mr. One Teas gave people a chance to leave with a special parting gift.

Concerts in the evening

At 6 pm, twelve singers with warm voices took to the stage to perform African-American Gospel music. The audience was transported into a world of powerful music and captivating rhythms. After the concert, Hassan of Monaco hosted a comedy show and introduced the audience to three established comedians.

Ending with a thrilling Basketball Game!

Women’s Day in Monaco closed with a top notch basketball game. Monaco Basket played against Ambitions Girondines for an intense and highly symbolic match at the legendary Gaston Médecin hall of the Louis II stadium. The thrilling match ended with Monaco winning with a score of 77 to 53!
