Sea Festival will be once again held in Monaco, Port Hercule on Saturday June 17th on the occasion of Saint Pierre day, the patron of fishermen and sailors who have disappeared at sea. In collaboration with the City of Monaco, Nautical Society of Monaco and the Association the Monaco Pontoons, all Monegasque institutions that relate to the sea (the Prince Albert II Foundation, the Oceanographic Museum, the Underwater Exploration Club of Monaco and the Monegasque Nature Protection) wished to associate themselves with the Yacht Club of Monaco in order to propose a rich and intense program of discoveries of nautical activities (free admission on registration).
Animated by songs from the Children’s Heart of the Monaco Rainier III Academy of Music, this day will offer many activities for the whole family: a giant slide, introduction to sailing, sea kayaking or kite surfing, paddle workshop, diving baptisms, waterbike or water bubbles for the youngest participants…, with a nautical parade between the two ports of Monaco.
Tuiga (1909) and Malizia II, the IMOCA of 60 feet, the two admiral vessels of the Yacht Club of Monaco, will also open their bridge for 20 minute sea trips – a real privilege.
Amongst the other novelties of this year’s edition is the exhibition of Jet à Bras by Lisa Caussin-Battaglia, world vice-champion in speed, a meet and greet and book signing with Gérard Aubert, author of the book “Les Abysses au paradis”, as well as the Sea Championship with a whole range of activities that will reward the most enthusiastic and active participants.
A day of nautical games but also awareness of safety at sea.
At 15:00, the SNSM will demonstrate a sea rescue, which includes a simulation of life raft opening and the intervention of dogs (six newfoundlands).
Notice to yachtsmen: take part in the parade
From 10:00 am, all sails and motorboats, keelboats and other monotypes are invited to position themselves in front of the Oceanographic Museum to participate in a nautical parade.
For its first official launch of the year, Tuiga , the flagship of the YCM will sail alongside Malizia II, a 60 feet boat that has just become a part of the Monegasque fleet.
Through this parade, the Yacht Club of Monaco intends to pay tribute to its Commodore, Gerard Brianti, who tragically passed away on May 10th.
All the participants will then return to the Port Hercule to enjoy a lunch in the sun created by Chef Christian Plumail and served on the docks.
