Monaco and Cuba Celebrate Diplomatic Relations

The 10th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Principality of Monaco and the Republic of Cuba was celebrated in Paris in December 2017, in the Monegasque Chancellery, as reported by the Princely Government.

Surrounded by their respective diplomats, His Excellency Mr. Claude Cottalorda, Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco in France, and His Excellency E. Elio Eduardo Rodriguez Perdomo, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in France, celebrated this event in a cordial and warm atmosphere.

In his speech, His Excellency Mr. Cottalorda recalled the historic ties of friendship between the two countries and pointed out, moreover, that the theme of the 2016 Rose Ball in Monaco was that of Cuban culture and Havana. The Ambassador of Monaco underlined the common challenges of the two states, particularly in the face of climate change, and hoped that the fight for the preservation of the oceans would become an axis of cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Rodriguez Perdomo, for his part, referred to the private visit of His Excellency Prince Albert II of Monaco to Cuba in 2001 and highlighted the opportunities for developing economic and sports relations between Cuba and Monaco.

At the end of the formalities and in the presence of Cuban musicians, a reception took place, offering Monegasque specialties and mojitos to the guests, who were able to share a pleasant moment and thus perpetuate the excellence of the relations between the two States.

For the record, the Principality of Monaco and the Republic of Cuba established Diplomatic Relations on December 19, 2007, by signing a Joint Declaration.
