To commemorate 75th anniversary of the Monaco Red Cross, an exceptional Kelly bags was up for public auction. Offered by the prestigious Maison Hermès, the bag sold for an astounding €75,000.
The bag is 32 cm, in ‘Rouge Piment’ box calfskin, with a silver palladium trim. Nicknamed the “king of leathers”, the bag belongs to the family of “Hermès heritage” leathers, which the house is famous for. It has been in collections since the 1920s and takes its name from the “Box” tanning technique, of English origin. Inspired by the universal symbolism of red, the pieces is in the shade associated with the Red Cross.
The lucky bidder for this rare piece was invited, accompanied by a guest, to an official table during the prestigious Red Cross gala on Friday 19 July 2024. The event culminated with the presentation of the bag in person, on stage at Sporting de Monaco, by Prince Albert II.
Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, accompanied by Camille Gottlieb, attended the 75th Monaco Red Cross Gala which was held in the Salle des Etoiles. The Monaco Red Cross Gala is renowned as one of the most prestigious events in the Principality of Monaco.
The charity evening, hosted this year by TV host Tatiana Silva and athlete Thaïg Khris, brought together members and donors of the Red Cross around an exceptional dinner which ended with a concert by the group Jamiroquai. Founded in 1992 by Jay Kay, the pioneers of “future funk” culture took the world by storm, establishing themselves as one of the most popular bands on the planet. The Grammy Award-winning band has sold more than 26 million albums worldwide and hold the Guinness world record for the best-selling funk album of all time.
Since 1948, the Monaco Red Cross has carried out daily awareness and prevention activities of a humanitarian nature.
