Government Funds Internet Security for Monaco Telecom

The Monegasque government recently agreed to finance new internet security solutions for individuals and professionals in the Principality. Minister of State, Serge Telle, presented Monaco Telecom’s General Manager, Martin Peronnet, with a letter of intent outlining the new internet security programs during the Monte-Carlo Country on Tuesday 16 April 2019.

Internet users in the Principality will be able to opt in to these security services, called Monaco Care Safety and Monaco Care Password, to secure their computers, smartphones and other devices.

According to Martin Peronnet, General Manager for Monaco Telecom, the agreement means that the internet provider will provide security software for all residents subscribed to the internet in Monaco for free. The computer software and app will allow users to navigate the internet in a more secure manner.

The services will include an antivirus and a parental control function.  Online bank transactions, something that people do more and more online, will also be secure and passwords will also be saved in a more secure manner.  The software and apps will be provided by a specialized group from Finland called F-Secure.

The new security services will be available in July.  Every person subscribed to the internet in Monaco must personally confirm that they wish to activate their free account on F-Secure.

This security agreement between the State and the Monegasque provider is part of a policy initiated in 2016 as part of the Principality’s digital security strategy.
