From Santa Claus to Sangria: EasyJet’s New Routes from Nice Offer To Brighten Your Winter

As winter approaches, Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport is preparing to welcome a host of new destinations, courtesy of its long-time partner, EasyJet. The British low-cost airline, which has been a fixture at Nice for nearly three decades and the airport’s largest customer for the past ten years, is set to expand its offerings with six new routes for the 2024-2025 winter season.

A Journey Through Sun and Snow

Starting in late 2024, travellers from Nice will have a diverse array of destinations to choose from, ranging from the sunny coasts of Morocco and the Canary Islands to the historic streets of Europe’s great cities. Those looking for a warm escape can book flights to Agadir, a gateway to Morocco’s vast deserts, beginning on September 3rd, or to the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, with services kicking off on November 2nd.

For those seeking urban adventures or cultural escapes, EasyJet will offer flights to the vibrant Spanish capital of Madrid starting October 27th and to the charming Czech city of Prague from October 10th. Meanwhile, travellers can explore the Alsace region of France with flights to Strasbourg starting on October 28th.

Winter lovers aren’t left out, either. EasyJet is set to connect Nice to the snow-covered Lapland town of Rovaniemi, Finland, known as the official hometown of Santa Claus, starting on November 30th. Each of these routes is designed to cater to different tastes, whether it’s history, romance, adventure, or relaxation.

A Longstanding Partnership

EasyJet’s commitment to Nice Airport has only grown over the years. With 46 routes and 4.6 million passengers transported last year alone, the airline plays a crucial role in connecting Nice to the rest of Europe and beyond. Nearly one-third of all passengers passing through Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport fly with EasyJet, underscoring the strong relationship between the airline and the airport.

Navigating the Future Thinking About Sustainable Travel

The expansion of EasyJet’s network from Nice offers exciting travel opportunities; it also raises questions about the environmental impact of increased air travel. According to Carbone 4, a consulting firm specializing in climate change, air transport accounts for 2.6% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The addition of new routes will undoubtedly contribute to these emissions, presenting a challenge for the aviation industry and its customers to balance the desire for travel with the imperative to reduce carbon footprints.

As EasyJet and Nice Airport continue to innovate and expand, travellers are encouraged to consider the environmental impact of their journeys and explore sustainable travel options whenever possible.

In the meantime, with flights starting at under €30, now might be the perfect time to plan your next adventure, whether you’re dreaming of a winter getaway to Lapland, a cultural city break in Prague, or a sunny escape to the Canary Islands.
