Expansion of Monaco Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery (IM2S)

Addition of follow-up care beds and arrival of new practitioners

On Thursday 12 January, Minister of Health and Social Affairs Stéphane Valeri visited the Monaco Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery (IM2S) to offer his best wishes for the New Year to all staff and practitioners.

His visit also aimed to highlight the new services offered by the Institute as part of the Principality’s policy of excellence in healthcare provision. On 13 December, the Institute received approval from the Minister of State to introduce follow-up care and rehabilitation beds.

The clinic now offers patients comprehensive care including post-operative follow-up from a dedicated team, working together with the surgeon. Patients in Monaco and, by extension, those covered by the Monaco Social Security Funds, are now able to make use of the new follow-up care and rehabilitation beds.

The Institute also now has an immediate care walk-in clinic, so that patients can be seen seven days a week. IM2S aims to ensure that a specialist medical examination can be carried out regardless of the day on which the trauma occurred, and to offer priority referrals for surgery.

Following his visit, Stéphane Valeri was keen to meet all of the Institute’s staff and practitioners during an informal reception. He welcomed the arrival of new, distinguished practitioners and reiterated that “the Monaco Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery is a key player in establishing the attractiveness of the Principality’s healthcare provision from a medical point of view.”
