The Monaco Gerontology Coordination Center (C.C.G.M.) has launched a new service for elderly residents. This service, unique to the Principality, is designed to provide personalized nighttime assistance for seniors who have partially lost their independence, as well as to support their families. It is aimed at individuals who already receive daily living assistance and is part of a home support program that eases the burden on family caregivers.

Currently, more than 25% of Monaco’s population is over 65, and this figure is expected to rise due to the aging baby boomer generation, according to research by Monaco’s Institute of Statistics (IMSEE). Monaco is actively implementing strategies to support aging in place, allowing seniors to remain in their familiar environments as long as possible.

What Does the Service Include, and How Much Does It Cost?

The nighttime mobile caregivers service includes safety checks in the home, ensuring the correct intake of pre-prepared medications, assistance with nighttime anxieties, help with late bedtimes, as well as personal hygiene and mobility support.

Designed to help seniors stay at home in optimal conditions, this new service offers nighttime visits lasting no longer than 45 minutes, either once or twice a night, depending on recommendations based on a gerontological assessment conducted by C.C.G.M.

The cost of a single visit is €35.

Who Is Eligible?

The service is available to individuals who meet specific criteria, including their level of independence and need for assistance. Visits will be conducted as part of a personalized care plan, scheduled in advance. This approach not only meets the needs of the elderly but also preserves their independence and peace of mind.

The mobile nighttime caregivers do not replace medical care but assist with daily tasks, focusing on prevention and readiness to call for emergency help if needed.

In terms of financial support, this service may be covered under the autonomy support allowance, subject to the applicable conditions.
