Hosting the ceremony Princess Charlene is an unwavering advocate for rugby’s growth and inclusivity. As President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation, her commitment to the sport was evident throughout the evening. Beyond the glamour, she remains deeply involved in grassroots rugby, recently presenting shirts to Monaco’s U16 team before their Dubai7s journey—a testament to her dedication to nurturing young talent.
The ceremony honoured some of rugby’s most celebrated figures. French rugby star Antoine Dupont, a standout in both the 15s and 7s formats, received the Sevens Player of the Year award from the Princess. Dupont’s extraordinary year included leading France to Olympic gold on home soil and securing an HSBC SVNS title, cementing his status as one of rugby’s all-time greats.
Celebrating Rugby’s Best
The awards night highlighted achievements across all facets of the game. South Africa’s Pieter-Steph du Toit and England’s Ellie Kildunne took home the coveted 15s Player of the Year titles, while Maddison Levi of Australia dazzled with her incredible try-scoring feats to win Women’s Sevens Player of the Year. Rising stars like Erin King (Ireland) and Wallace Sititi (New Zealand) were recognized as Breakthrough Players, heralding the next generation of rugby excellence.
Princess Charlene also presided over the induction of five legends into the World Rugby Hall of Fame, honouring their lasting contributions to the sport. Among them were Emilee Cherry of Australia, Scotland’s Donna Kennedy, and Italy’s Sergio Parisse, whose careers have left an indelible mark on the game.
Vickii Cornborough (England) received the International Rugby Players Special Merit Award for her impact, both on and off the field of play, shaping among her many achievements the support available to women’s players in England through her role on the Rugby Players’ Association board.
