Brasca finally sold for 20 million euros

After three years of negotiations, the land, with which the municipality has plans, was transferred to the Principality for 20 million euros.

It’s done! The commune has sold the Brasca plateau to the Monegasque State for 20 million euros.

“This puts an end to three years of negotiations,” says the mayor, Stéphane Cherki. The discussions had started, on a basis of 8 million euros, with the Automobile Club of Monaco which had leased the land since 2010.

Since then, the Monegasque state has replaced the association, an initial agreement was found for a value of 13 million euros, subsequently discussions continued with the added value of the locations underground space. “20 million euros is equivalent to one hundred years rent” specifies the city hall.

What to do with this sum? Stephane Cherki wants to be more precise and confides his will to lodge the Ezasques on their commune. “On the one hand, we are going to buy dozens of apartments and, on the other, launch the construction of two real estate projects”.

The first will include three apartments, a nursing home, three local stores, a tourism office and a municipal police office, the second, will be a dozen apartments.

An event space

The community also envisages the construction of a multi-purpose event space in the village. “It will aim to complete our winter offer around niche congress lounges. I want to contribute to the development of tourism in Eze but also in surrounding areas”.

An initial budget of 5 million euros was reached and sketches drawn, “We will have to take into account the opinion of the architect of the “Batiments de France” since we are in a classed perimeter”.

A major renovation

Two other projects are important to the city hall: the complete renovation or reconstruction of the seaside schools (“we are working closely with the local community on the subject”) and the complete deleveraging of the commune (it has risen to 1.3 million euros).

In addition to the 20 million euros, city hall will pay 200,000 euros (900,000 for the department) for transfer duties. “I want to guarantee to the Ezasques tranquillity during the years concerning their local taxes”, says the city hall.
