Philippe arrived in January 2022 and helped the team reach the 3rd place in the league at the end of the 2021-22 season, then to be in the running for another podium finish for most of the 2022-23 season.
In spite of these results and his major contribution to the development of young players such as Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Youssouf Fofana or Vanderson, recently called up for the Brazilian national team for the first time, and to the emergence of Eliesse Ben Seghir and Edan Diop from the Academy, the sporting dynamic at the end of the season which ended with a final ranking below expectations indicated that a change at the head of the first team was necessary.
AS Monaco would like to thank Philippe and his staff for their unwavering commitment, from day one, and wish them all the best for the future.
Paul Mitchell, Sporting Director, said: “This is a difficult decision to take as Philippe has given his all and has always behaved in a professional manner. On behalf of the Club, I would like to thank him for all his efforts.”
AS Monaco is giving itself time to reflect on the coach who will lead the team next season.
