At a recent press conference, the Grimaldi Forum was proud to announce that a record-breaking number of people attended this year’s exhibition about the Forbidden City of Beijing. The Monegasque cultural center also revealed an exciting theme for the next year’s exhibition.
Sylvie Biancheri, General Director, said during the press conference that the exhibition could have reached the symbolic mark of 50,000 visitors but the constraints of the Grimaldi Forum event calendar were such that they could not exceed 60 days of operation. But beyond this record, Grimaldi Forum welcomes the public’s enthusiasm about this heritage theme. 47,000 of people were happy visitors of this unique exhibition.
Sylvie Biancheri also announced the theme for the summer 2018 exhibition, which will be titled: “The Gold of the Pharaohs”.
150 pieces from the collections of the Cairo Museum will be loaned to the Grimaldi Forum especially for the exhibition. It will be a chance for the public to soar over 2,500 years of history, under the commission of Christiane Ziegler, who was responsible for the memorable “Queens of Egypt” exhibition at the Grimaldi Forum back in 2008.
Finally, this press conference was also the occasion to unveil the impressive program of events at the Grimaldi Forum for the end of 2017: Boris Berezovsky and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic, Fanny Ardant at the theatre, the best DJ’s on the planet at the MICS, Barbara Frittoli and Roberto Alagna on the opera stage, concerts by Kids United and Elton John, a conference by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo during the Christmas season, Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Vienna Philharmonic and finally, Anna with her tenor husband Yusif Eyvazov.
