A Focus on Higher Education Objective: Post-Baccalaureate Studies

The Department of Education, Youth and Sport is stepping up its activities to promote post-Baccalaureate guidance, the aim being to support high school students with their higher education plans.

The Academic Counselling and Education Resource Centre (CIEN) is a valuable partner, which supports educational advisory activities by providing information for school students.  Throughout the year, the CIEN is host to young people and their families and offers assistance with their training plans.

As last year, to build on this approach, it will offer special opening times on certain Saturdays, entitled “A Focus on … .”

These day events are held at the CIEN’s premises.  They give high school children access to full, accurate information and are an opportunity for them to meet students and specialists who are invited to share their experience.  These special Saturdays are an opportunity to find out more about the following topics:

  • Saturday 10 December 2016

Morning:  Law and Political Science – universities, preparative classes, IEP, etc.

Afternoon:  Commerce and Economics – universities, preparative classes, business schools, etc.

  • Saturday 14 January 2017

Preparing for selective higher education sectors

  • Saturday 4 February 2017

Morning: Health and Science – medical and paramedical studies, preparatory classes, engineering schools, etc.

Afternoon: Informatics, digital technology and cyber security – specific training, universities, engineering schools, etc.

  • Saturday 18 March 2017

Financing higher education studies and student accommodation

Advice from the CIEN staff in line with the topics of the day and your personal requirements

Meet with students on the topics covered (10 December and 4 February):  in the morning from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Meet specialists in the topics covered from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (14 January and 18 March)
