6 Things you should know about masquerade carnival «Venice in Monte-Carlo»

To open the International Carnival Season, the Principality of Monaco will host the event Venice in Monte-Carlo from 3rd to 5th February 2017 under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

For a weekend, Monaco will represent and reinterpret the spirit and the traditions of the glorious Venetian Carnival. This elegant, fashionable and magical event, Ambassador of Venice, is a true tribute to Love with main features: a cultural collaboration between Monaco and Venice, an event in partnership with Yacht Club of Monaco, a Grand Venetian Masked Ball in period costume in the sumptuous decor of the Salle des Etoiles of Sporting Monte Carlo and a big colorful parade that will glitter with the hues of the rainbow in the Casino Square.

Opera singer Delia Grace Noble has been organizing the masked Venetian ball for two years. 300 attendees are expected this Saturday in the Salle des Étoiles.

Her motto is «do everything with your heart». After two years of hard work, Delia Grace Noble’s dream is about to come true. Her dream has been to re-introduce costumed balls to the Principality with the event titled «Venice in Monte-Carlo», taking place on Saturday at the Salle des Étoiles, a prelude to the Carnival of Venice. Nearly 300 guests are expected to attend the gala, inspired by the legendary costumes of Monaco.

«The idea is to open the international carnival season here in Monte Carlo, before Venice, Nice or Rio», says Delia Grace Noble.

Imagine, for the entire Carnival the streets are filled with celebrants dressed in luxurious, festive garb; experiencing Venice during the Carnival is like stepping back in time, with no modern buildings to spoil the illusion. All of an evening you might experience walking up the stairs of a candlelit palace, expecting Casanova to make his advances; enjoying cocktails over the glimmering Salle des Etoiles, abandoning your senses to pleasure; and revealing your true identity only to carefully chosen intimates. After all this extravagance perhaps your night is completed by a mysterious, romantic, moonlight tryst, leaving you entranced and breathless, ready to meet the whole experience again the following day.

This parade will take place on the streets of the Principality on February 5th and will start at 11 o’clock from nearby of the Chapelle de la Visitation. This first part of the parade will be presented by artists in traditional Venetian costumes. Amongst them you can see clowns, acrobats, magicians, singers and etc. This march will be finished at Avenue Saint-Martin.

Second part of this faerie parade will be started at the Place de Casino at 14th o’clock. Artists will make a tour around the Garden of the Casino performing while marching. Anybody disguised and willing take part in the parade is welcome to participate. And by the end of the day the jury will chose the best masquerade costume and the best masks among joined participants.

During the whole day hot chocolate will be offered to the pupils of the Monegasque schools at Café de Paris.

Opera and Casanova

The German-Romanian soprano, residing in the Principality, chose to give her evening a touch of opera. The music will oscillate between scores from «Romeo & Juliet» and the «Four Seasons» from Vivaldi. A more modern incursion will also be included with the presence of Richard Cocciante.  For a bit of ambience, guests will be invited to dance the minuet to Larvotto.

There is a dress code for all participants: Venetian costumes and masks. To help with this, costumes signed by the Nicolao workshop (creator of the costumes from the movie «Farinelli») are available for rental in the Principality. Managers from the boutique ‘Pretty Yours’, project partners, have also selected a series of dresses that should seduce the ball’s guests. The day after the gala, the 5th of February, the Venetian atmosphere will be extended to the Café de Paris, with a carnival which is open to all ages, including children. The funds collected during the evening will support the Foyer de l’Enfance Princess Charlène, as well as the foundation of the sovereign who has given his high patronage to the event.

In Monte Carlo, Delia sang with Andrea Bocelli in La Boheme as Mimi and interpreted Missia Palmieri in The Merry Widow then Lisa in The Land of Smiles by F. Lehar in Nice. In Monaco she played Violetta Valéry in La Traviata with Franck Ferrari and was Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust next to the baritone Davide Damiani. Her acclaim has been increased through her performances at the Toulon Opera House, Marseille Opera House and Montpellier Opera House as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra under the musical direction of Rene Koering.

Opera is Delia’s first and greatest passion. Her performances in 2013 at the Verona Opera Festival with excerpts from «La Traviata», led to her delivering the leading roles of Lisa in «Le pays du sourire» at Odeon Theatre and Venus in Orphée aux Enfers at the Marseille Opera House in 2014.

Personalized photo session from the 18th century

During the Grand Masked Ball, there will be a place in the Salle des Etoiles specially equipped for photographic sessions. Participants will be able to book tan appointment and enjoy a personalized photo session during the magical Venetian night in Monaco.

The package will include a selection of 200 of the most representative photos of the Ball as well as the photographs taken in the mobile studio at the «Venice in Monte-Carlo» event. (Digital photos). The cost of the photo shoot is €200 for a maximum of 8 people. Official photos and videos from the Venice in Monte-Carlo event can be downloaded online following the instructions that the Booking Office will send to participants as soon as the images are selected.
