Unprecedented: 1.2 million euros in play for two poker tournaments at the Casino de Monte-Carlo

MC Summer Concert for the Principality’s Young People on 15 July at the Salle des Étoiles
The 1st MC Summer Concert for young people, held on the initiative of the National Council and jointly organised by the Prince’s Government, the National Council and Monaco City Hall, will take place on 15 July 2019 at the Salle des Étoiles of the Sporting Monte-Carlo. The choice of artists for the opening act was made by young people, who also chose KUNGS. They have given their verdict, choosing three artists who represent different musical styles. Young musicians were invited to submit a project, and many took part in the selection process in the hope of stepping onto the legendary stage of the Salle des Etoiles.

Françoise Gamerdinger Takes Over as Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs
Françoise Gamerdinger, who was appointed by Sovereign Order No. 7.517 of 17 June 2019, has become the new Director of Cultural Affairs. She is the first woman to hold this post.
She holds a DEA postgraduate degree and a Capes de Lettres teaching certificate, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in the teaching of Latin, and is the mother of two children. Françoise Gamerdinger was a certified teacher of literature from 1988 until she joined the Department of Cultural Affairs in 2002. She was appointed Deputy Director in 2008. During this time, in addition to her management role, she was responsible, in particular, for Heritage matters, Literary Awards and the Prince Pierre Foundation’s lectures.
She was also appointed as a cultural expert to represent the Principality at the Council of Europe and, since 2012, has been in charge of Management and programming at the Princess Grace Theatre.
Holy Festival : 50 years of priesthood of the Archbishop
The Archbishop of Monaco, Monsignor Barsi, celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his ordination during a special mass in the Cathedral, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II and many personalities of the Principality. Enriching the atmosphere of the mass were “ the Master and the Little Singers of Monaco”. Religious and chivalric orders all celebrated in unison on this day of Corpus Christi. At the end, a procession of the Blessed Sacrament took place on the streets of the Rock, with two blessings, one in front of the Prince’s Palace and the second one in front of the Town Hall.
Monaco Fire and Emergency Service Holds an Open Day
To mark the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Service, the 30th anniversary of the Fontvieille Emergency Response Centre and the 25th anniversary of La Condamine Emergency Response Centre, the Fire and Emergency Service organised an Open Day for the public on Sunday 23 June 2019, in both fire stations. This event, which is directly linked to the World Civil Defence Day, is also aligned with the theme chosen for 2019, “Protecting our Children.» There were activities for children in and informal and friendly atmosphere and educational workshops for a wider public. Included were live displays of rescue manoeuvres. Souvenirs and drinks were on sale during the festivities
