There are already close to 1750 electric vehicles with Monaco plates driving around Monaco which is in line with one of Monaco’s most important goals – clean mobility. Drivers of electric vehicles are taking advantage of significant incentives provided by the Principality which include reduced parking charges, as they can park free on Monaco streets. In addition, there is free use of the recharge stations while recharging.
There are more and more new charging stations available in the Principality including from the company EVBOX which is a principal partner to Monaco’s program and the market leader. Their “Business Line” stations, which are recyclable, have two connectors so they can charge two cars at the same time. They are particularly efficient in the supply of energy and the user can choose the optimum charge suited to his vehicle. On Rue Notari there is another excellent model from the Swiss-Swedish conglomerate ABB, the Terra 53 CJG which fits all the electric vehicles in circulation in Monaco and will recharge vehicles within 15 to 30 minutes.
It is four years now that charging stations have appeared in Monaco in line with the goal announced by Prince Albert to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. 600 charging stations, including the 12 new places available for recharging on Rue Louis-Notari, are now available, all helping towards reducing green-house gases and thus protecting the environment. The new charging stations are particularly convenient close to Port Hercule opposite the Caisses Sociales de Monaco.
Soon there will be charging stations in Larvotto and recharging places for taxis are planned for Rue Beaumarchais.
In the future the Monaco Department for Urban Development has a new initiative planned where with an App on a smartphone drivers will be able to easily locate the most convenient charging stations, discover if they are free and in good shape ready to use.
