“NOELS BAROQUES”/ “Baroque Christmas” – on Tuesday, December 6 and Friday, December 9, 2016 – Chapel of the Visitation at 8.30 pm
Since 2011, the Direction on Cultural Affairs of the Principality presents baroque music concerts at the Chapel of the Visitation all through the month of December. This year the program is centered around the major event in the religious calendar: preparation of the Christmas celebration.
Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 8.30 pm:
«Veni, Veni Emmanuel» by The Gesualdo Six
Owain Park, director – Guy James, countertenor – Alex Chance, countertenor – Joseph Wicks, tenor – Josh Cooter, tenor – Michael Craddock, baritone – Sam Mitchell, bass.
The Gesualdo Six is a vocal sextet directed by Owain Park. It favors ancient music and, in particular, the polyphonic repertoire of the Renaissance, but also offers a combination of modern music withboth sacred and secular works.
Since its creation in 2014, The Gesualdo Six has given numerous concerts around the United Kingdom and is preparing other tours and concerts abroad, namely, in Germany.

“Natale in Italia” by La Fenice
Jean Tubéry, cornet and director – Stéphanie Pfister, violin – Nicolas Achten, theorbo – Keiko Gomi, cello – Jan Van Elsacker, tenor – Mathieu Valfré, harpsichord and organ.
The musicians of La Fenice took their name in 1990. They were brought together by the cornettist Jean Tubéry, passionate aboutmagnificent Venetian music of the 17thcentury. The repertory of the ensemble spreads throughout all Europe and covers more than two centuries of music.
La Fenice won two first international prizes (Bruges in 1990, Malmö in 1992). Since then, the musicians have been invited to the biggest festivals in Europe and beyond: United States, South America, Japan, China. The members of La Fenice are all virtuoso soloists who pursue an international career within the best contemporary ensembles.
